Please do us a favor and mod that case to a tempered glass side panel ... this build deserves to be shown off. +1 (cables are fantastic and so are the noctua fans)

depends on the game. Most games don't like sli.

Yes, but then why sli 1080s in the first place?

When the 1080 launched I ordered one of Newegg but it ended up getting back ordered and then in the meantime my local MC ended up getting some stock in. Being impatient, I picked one up locally and then never cancelled my Newegg order so ended keeping the two. The goal of my build was to be able to game at 4K 60Hz, and a single 1080 really wasn't cutting it for a lot of games.

I ended up being fairly disappointed with SLI though. Micro-stuttering, SLI incompatibility, Heat/Power, and just general one-off issues with SLI were getting very annoying. Much happier now with a single card.

why did you decide to go with a mechanical drive?

The storage space/$. I've got a 64 SSD cache drive for it as well ("accelerated" using intel RST). The OS is running on an M.2 drive.

How do you have the fans situated? Which are intakes vs exhaust?

  • 1 point

Beautiful portable build!

I spot one intake at the bottom, and 3 exhausts total. With that negative pressure, do the openings (and little nooks and crannies) build up with dust?

How are your temps currently? During idle & demanding games...
