Description

Don't want to make a huge wall of text so I'll get right to the point. Started this build in late july and have been working on it since then. Still not finish with it but this is what I have so far. She is mainly going to be used for Gaming, Streaming, and making game play vids.

Case: I first seen the NZXT Phantom and was going to grab that. But then I seen that they had this case coming out so I waited and grabbed it. Looks very cool and I really don't use disc anymore.

Mobo: Love the color and read a lot of good things about this board, but I had to RMA the first because some slots didn't work, and the first day it just randomly crapped out on me. But now it has been going 2 months strong!

Processor: I had to have the best. YES I over did it but I really wanted it, plus I had the money at the time so why not?! So far it has met all my needs and some more. Haven't overclocked but plan on it.

Graphics Card: I really wanted the Gigabyte G1 Gaming to match the scheme(and its greatness) but it was hard to catch, always went out of stock. MSI didn't let me down though. Did experience a sh*t load of coil whine for Far Cry 4 but that changed when I put vsync on. Everything else runs on Very High or better. Haven't overclocked yet but plan on it.

Dem RipJaws tho: Nice Color, multiple tabs open all the time, renders vids fairly quick. Does it job.

Power Supply: Got this much because I play on SLI in the near future. Should be enough with how much less power vga cards consume nowadays right?

SSD: Cheap and from reading or taking a lot from you guys on this site, this was a natural Bang for the buck....lol

Toshiba HDD: This thing is a piece of doodoo, but I had a gift card to get it so I got it. It squeaks and does a bunch of other random crap as well. plan on getting some WD Blacks to make up for this craptastic thing.

Welp, I guess it did become a great wall of text. Hope you like. If you have any questions or need to tell me off about something, feel free to comment.

Thx

Love it .... When choosing my latest case this blue h440 and the enthoo pro fought an epic battle in my head for supremacy! The enthoo pro won as noise doesn't bother me and I liked the pro's amazing amount of airflow! Every time i see the blue h440 a twinge of regret shoots through me. Anyways yes the g1 would have looked amazing and fit the color scheme better but I still love your build!

My ocd says that 970 doesn't fit... still a nice build tho.

IMO the MSI red doesn't look so bad even if everything else is blue

What monitor is that?

skrillazoe submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

Playstation TV :/ Working on getting a better one

Not sure about its screen quality but it sure looks awesome! I wanted to get a used Playstation display for the looks, but I have read that a lot of models of screen problems where the display will just flicker black for long periods of time)

I like. You did a great job. You got a killer fast gaming rig that will be relevant in gaming for years. Personally, I only trust WD HDD for my platter drives (used them since 2007 and never had one die on me yet). I also had a college CIT professor tell us about the horrors of Toshiba hardware.

And this is not a wall of text. ;) If you think this is a wall of text, my build and post is would be considered the Great Wall of China.

lol I will have to check your build post out. I should have known about Toshiba, heard many horror stories myself.

Free is free. I love the WD Blacks. You won't be sorry you got them.

How is the Kraken. Planning on getting one for my build. Love to color scheme. Great part choices. WD Blacks will suit you well I think. Always been a Seagate fan myself. Use them in systems at work and home and never have had any issues.

Thanks sajiin. So far it is holding it's own. Ran some stress test to load the processor, kept temps sustainable. Max I've gotten was 70c under load.

Awesome build. One of my favorites on here. I'm getting ready to put my own together. Check it out and leave me feedback. http://pcpartpicker.com/forums/topic/61718-opinions-on-4790k-r9-290-build

skrillazoe submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

Will do. And thanks! Very glad that it's a favorite of yours.

nice build. Wish that MSI geforce came in blue but red still looks good. Really digging that case too. Sucks that the mobo crapped out. I was kinda afraid of that too after hearing a lot of folks complaining about it but luckily mine checked out.

Am I the only one here who thinks the MSI GTX 970 accents the overall blue theme very well? :O

mrseadonkey 1 point 36 months ago

hey i was wondering if their is any coil whine on your gtx 970 and how loud the video card is?

skrillazoe submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

Yes, I had coil whine on one game(very loud)and that was Far Cry 4. Overclocked it and raised the voltage, now it doesn't seem to exist.
