Description

This is my first ever build and I am quite happy with the way it turned out. It took me a about 40 hours of research to figure out how to build a pc without watching a building along video. I could not be happier with the Nvidia GTX 770. I was originally going to purchase the AMD Raedon 7970, but it was sold out the morning i was going to buy it. This asus Maximus HERO Mobo is really great value for the money. It comes with so many features and looks good doing it. The Headphones in the picture are Astro A40's. I wasent sure about the Steelseries APEX keyboard until i got it. Everyone said the keys were a little close together but i was using the laptop in the picture which has a chicklet keyboard and i liked it. This keyboard IMO feel like it has Cherry Mx Reds, not exactly but pretty dang close while a little more tactile feel. The TV is a Samsung 32" LED 1080 Smart, I had a 42" but it was just to big for sitting this close.

I have had it built now for a week. It runs BF4 on ultra (do not have fraps yet) faster than 60fps Not o/c'ed Next step is to get a Fanatec racing wheel, pedals, shifter set. Temps stay nice and cool because its winter and my house is an icebox with a fire place.

Let me know what you guys think!

Just added some normal pictures from my phone!

Note - Change the GPU to the GTX770 if that's what you have in there :)

Overall, not bad. Although I must say the pictures seem like they were taken through a magnifying glass or a water drop. It's nice and round / bendy.

It was actually a GoPro :) I have a DSLR camera and it surely doesn't do that.

Yeah, I just read that comment down the list. You can get lenses for your DSLR that add the wide angle effect.

EDIT: Tried to delete the comment before you noticed. Nope...

It still says 7970 on the PCPartPicker thing but I don't care, this is a great build.

I love that case and it's so clean!

I have a question too, how is that keyboard? I saw it and was thinking about buying it. I would either get something like this or a blackwidow from Razer. I just love the lighting effects it has.

+1

The keyboard is great! I kind of took a gamble on it and i dont regret it. Everyone says "Go Mechanical!" I have never had one so im not missing it. Aesthetics dont quite trump "feel and function" but its up there for me. This is THE best of both worlds.

Awesome. Yeah I heard of the rubbery bottoms to it. I am currently using a generic mouse/keyboard. And you're right, the feel and function is more important in my opinion, though I do like back-lit keyboards.

I won't tell anyone to go mechanical before they try it. I just recently went with the MX Red. It's SUPER touchy, but I like it now that I'm used to it. It's not really meant for typing, but for gaming and button smashing, I highly recommend trying it :)

Just changed it. Oops. The picture were taken through my GoPro, It has a sort of fisheye effect. I will take some cell phone pics so it look more normal.

You can adjust that on the go pro. I forget what the setting is but a friend of mine has one and was able to change some settings to reduce/remove it.

Good build, somewhat similar to mine as well.

For the record, those RoG Heros are actually a bit overpriced IMO. Don't get me wrong, they're great boards, but ASUS cheaped out on some parts of it. If you had the budget, you could've dropped another $30-40 and gotten a Z87 Sabertooth, which is a better part overall.

Its funny you mention that. I was going to go with the sabertooth then decided against it :/

I'm pretty sure anyone who's purchased either mobo has contemplated getting the other. I was going to get the Hero until someone informed me that ASUS didn't use solid caps in the on board sound card. Well, that, and then I saw the thermal armour that comes with the board (and realized you could paint it).

The case is amazing. I was not sure about how well the fan intake was going to work with the front panel but it seems to doing quite well.

Where did you get those wonderful trees I really want them.

They are actually incense burners. They hold the incense sticks on the inside an the smoke comes out through the holes in the tree. I got them at a store at my local mall.

Setup is awesome bro, +1 simply for that!

Also I feel that at that price for the refurb TV I would've gotten a QNIX 2560x1440p monitor but a TV does give you a bit more flexibility in purposing

Nice build!

I did not even know about that monitor :\ This TV works surprisingly well. I do not have any lag in BF4 (that i can notice) It is probably unplayable to a pro gamer haha.

Eh everyone is different when it comes to what you want they want to see while gaming or not. If it's a 60Hz TV, should be fine to the majority of users

Add 2 more monitors and you have just gone pro Awesome build! +1

I would love to do that. I really want to get into PC sim racing. 3 monitors would be awesome.

Yes, triple monitors are amazing! For: FPS, Racing Sims, Flight Sims, MMO, Strategy. And games aside its very useful for productivity you can have email on one screen a browser on this screen and lets say, iTunes on this screen :)

Depending on your budget you should have been scouring the market for deals the past few weeks.

You could have gotten a SEagat 600 240gb ss for 130 and a Corsair HX850 psu got $100. Also Ripjaw-X has been on sale a bunch lately, I got 2x8gb with a slightly faster speed and good timings for about $100.

Pretty solid build, I would change the ssd to at least a Samsung EVO instead of that revision of the hardware.

I got alot of these items just before black friday. I got deals on quite a few items. I was trying to stay within a budget of 2k. I do plan on getting another larger SSD like the EVO. This SSD lags a bit compared to the Intel 525 in my laptop.
