Description

Hello Part Pickers!

Today, after three years of being bound to an Ultrabook, I was finally able to finish assembling my next PC. I just moved back to America after teaching English in South Korea for 3 years and decided I was way over due for a hardware upgrade. Sugoi Satan, my newest PC, is the fourth of my builds. My first, "Devil", was a sweet AMD duo core build I saved up for by mowing lawns in jr. high school. The second, "Lucifer", was a rig that I built after landing a real part time job in high school. The third, "Diablo" I built after finishing college and before deciding to leave the country and gave it off to a friend. I picked up an Ultrabook because I was always traveling and a desktop would destroy my carry-on weight.

It sucked for gaming.

Before coming home I planned and re-planned my build, scoured over written and you-tube reviews, plotted and saved for each piece. I wanted something that could absolutely destroy 1080p/144mhz gaming for shooters and MOBAs. I wanted it to be pretty quiet because my Ultrabook sounds like a jet engine and is hotter than one. I've also always liked the red/black theme and wanted to keep that aesthetic to please the dark lord. EDGY.

Anyway, enjoy Sugoi Satan!

Part Reviews

CPU

As far as gaming goes i'm pretty sure this is the sweet spot. I don't use applications or play games that would take advantage of hyper threading so an i7 seemed like overkill to me.

CPU Cooler

This thing was kind of nerve-racking to install but is damn near silent. It looks really good and keeps my i5 frosty. Its also a steal at sub $40 with free shipping when it is on sale. Was tough to catch in stock for a reason!

Motherboard

Bios have come a long, long way since my last build a couple years ago. This Msi Gaming M5 was very simple to set up, looks great, and overclocking my ram to its advertised 3200 on this board was very easy. Would definitely recommend.

Memory

It is really attractive and lightning fast ram. You actually have to overclock it (which is incredibly easy on my mobo) to get the advertised speed. Little on the pricey side though and i'm not sure 3200 makes a huge difference compared to other DDR4 speeds.

Storage

Fast and reliable, widely regarded as one of the best SSDs on the market.

Storage

Cheap storage, good reliability. Didn't wanna pay the premium for blacks.

Video Card

Im use to gaming on a Nvidian 640LE powered laptop and the technology leap to this bad boy is incredible. If you haven't ever gamed at 144mhz you should do yourself a favor and try it. Absolute eye-candy machine.

EXPENSIVE THOUGH D:

Case

Really like this case, the fans I have in it are near silent and the window panel really shows off the cool looking internals. I hear the window can be easy to scratch so be careful with moving it! Cable management was a breeze and there is plenty of room for everything.

Power Supply

I got it on a good sale, well reviewed and a solid PSU all around.

Optical Drive

It reads and burns DVDs. Witchcraft.

Case Fan

These look gorgeous and throw just enough light to accent your case without making it look like a night in Vegas. They are also super quiet -- barely audible for me.

Monitor

144mhz is absolutely stunning. The color looks a little washed out but is easily adjusted with downloadable color profiles online.

Keyboard

My first mechanical gaming keyboard. Really nice if you can catch it on sale and I personally love the "silent" keys -- they aggro the girlfriend less.

Mouse

I always buy logitech mice and the G502 is pretty much my favorite right now. Solid little guy and you can even get the RGB variant now!

Headphones

The little brother of the M50x and still plenty wonderful. I've owned the same pair for a couple years now and they have always made me happy. Great sound for listening to high-quality audio but also crystal clear for gaming and chatting.

Man If only you could see my figure collection -- it's packed up from moving at the moment but I'll have to update when I get it out! I have no idea why they decided to let you mount an ssd there but it looks cool right?

TZ-8500 7 Builds 2 points 17 months ago

oh wait its a mount? LOL I though you just threw it there but that's nice lol. Also yea tell me about it, I have a decent amount of figures too = ="

Nice build.

That ancient looking vinyl covered card playing table it's sitting on is my favorite part. I immediately thought of my late grandmother and grandfather bringing out one that looked just like it around Thanksgiving and Christmas for me and my brother to sit at. Good memories.

TsundereThunder submitter 1 Build 2 points 17 months ago

Funny you say that because I've been back in the states for a week (crashing with my Grandparents) and they pulled it out of storage for me to use as a makeshift desk. Hahaha

Awesome!

TsundereThunder submitter 1 Build 2 points 17 months ago

Yeah that is a pretty random coincidence!

Say it isn't so. "I'm the number one defender of the earth." Then hides behind Goku.

why does your bios read 2133mhz when your ram is 3200? explanation pls?

TsundereThunder submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

That screen is actually my first boot up. To get the advertised 3200 ram speed you have to overclock it in bios. I did that right after I took that picture!

lino216 3 Builds 1 point 17 months ago

my ram is 2400 mhz and at the bios it is also 2133mhz, so do i need to overclock the ram? to get on that speed?

Gooberdad 7 Builds 1 point 17 months ago

Yes. I have had to do thay as well. I never had trouble with old DDR3 1333, but 1866 and up had to be adjusted in the bios when I set it up.

TsundereThunder submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

What motherboard do you have?

lino216 3 Builds 1 point 17 months ago

so how do i do it, to make mine higher than 2133? because mine is 2400mhz

MrD3vilDonkey 2 points 17 months ago

My sister-in-law spent three years in South Korea teaching English as well!! She loved it over there, and I kinda get the impression she would like to settle there.

Great rig +1
