Description

Hello everyone, Thanks for stopping by and checking out my build!

Let me start off by apologizing for the quality of my pictures. My room has horrible lighting and I used my phone to take the pictures. Hopefully I'll be able to add some better quality pictures later.

This was my first time building a computer, and it was a blast. I'd been wanting to build one for a while now and I finally found an excuse to! I recently started streaming on Twitch. I've been using my laptop but it really wasn't allowing me to have the streaming quality I was hoping for, so I thought now would be the perfect time to build!

Here are the parts: (I'd like to note that I bought all my parts during Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend)

CPU: I wanted something fast and something I'd be able to overclock if I need to in the future.

CPU Cooler: I went with the Hyper 212 EVO for now, but I plan on getting the Corsair H100i sometime down the road.

Motherboard: I went with this motherboard mainly for its appearance and its good reviews. I wanted something that was blue and that would look nice through the window and this certainly does the job!

Memory: I also picked this one because it was blue and had good reviews.

Storage: I went with the Western Digital 1TB HDD because well, that's what pretty much everyone uses. And I got the Samsung 840 EVO for the OS.

Video Card: After months of waiting, I finally picked up a 380X at a pretty great price. I game in 1080p, so a 380X is more than enough for me.

Case: I was originally going to go with the NZXT Source 210, but when I seen the Define R4 price drop on Black Friday I just had to have it. And I am so glad I did because I couldn't imagine my parts being in any other case.

Power Supply: I went with the Corsair 500W simply because it's more than enough. I plan on getting some blue sleeved cables sometime though, so I'll eventually have to get a different PSU.

Optical Drive: It was the cheapest one I could find and had good reviews.

Monitor: I got it for an amazing price. It looks great and it's just the right size.

Case fans: I got these because they're great fans, they're silent and blue.

Keyboard and Mouse: After a few months I upgraded to a G910 Keyboard and a G300s mouse. I got them at a pretty good price, and I'm very happy with both of them.

Speakers: I love these speakers. They sound and look great and I got them for an amazing price.

NZXT Hue LED Controller: Anybody with a windowed case should have one of these. The white light really makes all the blue parts pop. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the double sided tape it comes with isn't very sticky. I'm going to have to buy some more tape or glue it to the case to keep it from falling off.

Overall this was a surprisingly easy and very fun process. The cable management isn't the best it could be, but I plan on making it all perfect once I get my video card and sleeved cables. I look forward to building more computers in the future. Please feel free to leave some feedback and let me know what you think. Thanks again for taking time to check out my build!

Edit: I'll try to add some more pictures sometime to show off the new GPU and additional RAM.

Dig the build! How many fans can the Fractal Design Define R4 hold? And what sizes?

Thanks! And it can hold 6 120mm or 140mm fans. 2 in the front, 2 on the top, 1 in the back and 1 on the bottom. The case comes with two 140mm Silent Series R2 fans. I used both of them in the front and put the SP120s everywhere else. It's a great case and I definitely recommend it!
