Description

Decided it was time to build something new after buying laptops the last time we upgraded. Originally was going for a cheap family pc, but started building for gaming too.....

I wasn't completely happy with all the components I chose once I'd started building, but now that its complete this thing is awesome.

Boots in about 12 seconds from bios screen, runs all games on ultra @ 1650x1080 and is quiet. I'm very happy so far, though I'm sure some of you can find flaws with my components.

Some extra info, Wei score 7.7 CPU, 7.9 everything else. Overclocked to 4.4ghz at 1.26v

Oh should mention that actual cost with taxes and shipping in was $1021 with various discounts during the build.

Already build, besides maxes out at 87c during very high IBT, can't see why I'd need more cooling, unless I'm going to O/C more(which I'm probably not)

The Plus and Evo differ about 3 degrees, you made a good choice.

should get a psu that is at least 80 +

One of my regrets, although I did some research and after finding out what 80+ is for, I don't care too much. If my electric bill is 5$ more over a year , then it's not the end of the world. Have some of the cheapest electric prices in the world here. I haven't seen anywhere that says its more likely to fail.

well its not that it will cost more or anything its that if theres a spike in the power then it might fry your system so it might cost you a little more than $5 but other than that the only think i would do is change the mobo for one that supports sli/crossfire for future upgrades but overal pretty good build

Ok I wasn't sure if 80+ actually means its a safer power supply, just thought that had something to do with energy efficiency. I just went with some reviews, and picked it based on that. The mobo was a combo deal, and doesn't support SLI, and I'm okay with that. I'm 32 with 4 young children,so not much time fore hardcore gaming lol.

Well anything that catches my eye. Currently dishonored and far cry 3, and both run at max settings without slowing down. Not sure of the FPS because I haven't checked.

Thanks, haven't done this in awhile. Was a lot easier this time too.

Very nice build, I don't really like Intel boards, but everybody likes different things!

Board came in a combo. I am happy with it though and the BIOS is easy to work with. Using the auto O/C got my to 4.5 ghz @ 1.3v but It ran hot to almost 95c w/ prime 95 and IBT, so I did some manual changes and its nice and stable in the low 70's 4.4ghz @ 1.26v.

Oh nice, and yeah, you don't want to go over 1.3v on IB, it get's really hot, 1.26v @ 4.4 sounds nice. :D

What do you think of the case?
Are the front led strips easy to remove/change? Cable management decent?

Sorry for the late reply, but the cable management is crap lol, but I don't care that much. Nothing gets too hot. Haven't checked out the led strips, but they're probably not easily removed/replaced. I honestly after a few months of ownership am not totally happy with the case. I am very happy with everything else.

Me personally, can't find a single problem. These are all great parts. I might of gone with the Nvidia 600 series instead of the 500 but that would just be for good measure ya know to ensure you can keep playing all your games on Ultra.
