Description

*Update 5/7/2016

Well finally got around to buying my FX 6300, two days after I got it, I started kicking myself in the *** cause the 8300's price lowered to $120! :( anyways Im going to sport the 6300 for now til I get bored but heres whats I've got goin on so far. Got the 6300 running at 4.4ghz stable on my same Hyper T4 from my last CPU, getting a nice 55c under full load :) running 12gb of 1333 ddr3 G.Skill RipJaws in red, Motherboards a MSI g43 970a. Graphics card is the same, just overclocked a little more due to the newer mobo allowing a slightly higher clock in the core for some reason. Anyways feel free to ask whatever questions you'd like or leave a comment :)

Mainly for gaming and everyday use. Motherboard, CPU, and RAM will be upgraded in a few weeks but I figured Id post this here just for memories :D

Ok lets start talking about the system...

CPU is overclocked to 3.45ghz, I've had it higher (3.6) but figured id turn it down just for safety measures. Shes stable at 70c under full load.

Ram is running at stock clocks but with a +0.2v

FSB is also at +0.2v

GPU is overclocked using Afterburner, I just got this card so I am taking my time slowly turning it up a little more everyday while monitoring temps. As of right now the clocks are : Core - 1021, Memory - 1333, Power Limit 18%. Max temps are 64-65c under full load.

Still running my trustly Velociraptors that have never let me down and have great transfer rates even on a SATA II motherboard. 125mb/s :)

Case is the Corsair Spec 01, I've added a AF140 and AF120 Red LED to the front intake, AF120 Red LED to the rear exhaust,

replaced my Cooler Master Hyper fan with the stock red LED case fan that came with the case, surprisingly it actually lowered the temps 4-5c due to the it being somewhat of a static pressure fan compared to the original one it had.

One might say that having the CX 750m is a bit of overkill but i assure you it isn't, the cpu alone pulls nearly 200w after overclocking. I wanted some head room and got the PSU for $60 brand new from a friend.

Feel free to leave comment or questions, as I said though, the motherboard will be replaced soon. Going with a FX 6300 set up :D

Looks great! Speaking of Core 2 Quads, I gutted two old PCs out and put the good/best parts in one of the PCs. Now I have a core 2 quad q6600, 16GB corsair vengeance 1600mhz RAM (8GB usable, mobo can only see one side of the RAM), GT 430, and regular HDD in an antec 300 case. It still flies thru windows 7!

Woot for the Q6600! I still have an old computer chugging away with this... and a 8800 GTX xD

+1 For the old School build! We are now running almost the exact same pc, except I have a q9550. Where did you get that mobo? I need to get one for some overclocking ;)

I bought it from some guy on craigslist, he gave it to me with the cpu and ram :D

Boy, and here I am with my P4, 1.5 Gb ram, iGP, and 80Gb HDD that I bought second hand from my uncle 9 years ago... XD

Nice build btw +1, but if you're gonna upgrade, I suggest you also upgrade your PSU. Peace!

well ive never had a problem with it and only paid $50. I dont need to get rid of it, it works great. I have a pretty power hungry system too for its set up the tdp is around 580w. Dont believe everything you read on review sites.

pyrogab29 1 point 40 months ago

How many fps are you getting in games?

beyond305 submitter 1 Build 1 point 38 months ago

50-60 on high settings running at 1080p

Everyone saying to get a better psu, you guys should go google power consumption calculator, theres a website that lets you plug in all your system components and it tells you the amount of wattage and amps you are drawing. It also lets you add overclocking aspects which manipulates the wattage/amp draw, my system under full load with its overclock is only drawing around 550w. This 750 is way more than enough power for this system. Gaming doesnt matter, you still draw the same amount if not less power than when under full load.

Hahah! I'm doing a build like this. Any recommendations on where to find 8 gigs of cheap RAM?

beyond305 submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago

Hey! great choice man its a rock solid cpu. Check ebay, they have ram for really cheap. What motherboard are you using?

DanteCurrie 1 point 37 months ago

Hey, by any chance do you have a craigslist post for 6300 and 970 because i saw a post it had the same case same leds and you said you are going to get a 6300 setup soon

beyond305 submitter 1 Build 1 point 36 months ago
