Decent build just curious about the water cooler on a locked cpu since there is absolutely no need for a water cooler on a locked cpu because you shouldn't overclock it and the stock cooler would have worked perfectly fine even compared to a watercooler. Though for looks it does make a visual difference ;) That extra cost though could have upgraded your GPU quite a bit which in turn would have made your system last a lot longer before you'd feel the need to upgrade for performance.

I got the H70 at a great price with the GPU in a bundle from a friend. The HD7770 was rare so I had to jump on the deal. The gpu was only sold through best buy and to order from them was 165 and I got both the H70 and 7770 for that price.

thats a nice deal ;) wouldn't expect people to read your mind if that explination isn't in the description because I wont be the only person to take notice its a watercooler on a locked CPU.

Realy nice build but one Question for you is why did't you buy a H70 Cooler for $120 or did you get a deal? For me I understand that the stock cooler suck I almost killed my rig when runing Prime95. So, I'm to mitt be getting a H70 when I get back to Work, but I'll be OverClocking because I have a unlocked CPU. And How are you liking windiows 8 and the whole Metro interface :)

Yeah I got the H70 as bundle with my 7770 from a friend, I got both for the price of the card from best buy. I thought what the heck and I might use it in a future build. I don't think to much of win 8. Windows 8 is optimized for tablets and I really don't think it fits in with normal desktop computing. I actually have a program that makes windows 8 basically windows 8 with the start menu :).

would have upgraded to a better graphics card but looks like a good build!

Not sure if you raelly needed the water cooler, but it's your build :D I think you could OC your processor a bit by increasing the BCLK...not sure if that would make a huge difference though. That would also increase the BCLK for the chipset controller, so the PCIe and SATA might get screwed up....Isn't taht how it works? I'm not so sure now...

Don't OC non-K Intel processors beyond the "Turbo" that is sometimes a possibility with them. It's dangerous for other parts of your Motherboard and computer.

I understand that it is dangerous...I was just trying justify him buying that water cooler for a locked processor...

increasing the BCLK can make a huge difference, in corrupting your SATA lanes, PCI-E lanes and memory lanes if you end up doing it to much or just doing it wrong. It is never a good idea to go beyond the systems "Turbo" and manually overclock a locked Ivy Bridge CPU.

I concur I blew up a computer (almost literaly) when I foolishly increased the BLCK too 112 on an i7-3770 that was in one of the display models at my work; luckily no-one cared. needless to say don't try it.

Looks good but i have a few suggestions. One is the CPU cooler, the one you have is way overkill if you do not want to OC your CPU do not get a CPU cooler because cpu's come with them. Also unless you are going to super OC it you only need a $40 CPU cooler. Another concern is your GPU, it will not run stuff on ultra because it simple is not good enough, try a Radeon 7850 they are cheap and way better with tons of power. Another thing is your PSU... You do not need 700W if you do not plan to do SLI, i would just get a 400W one because more is not better, PSU's work more efficiently at 50-75% power use. Your RAM is also outdated, try for some 1600MHz ram modules, thay are also cheaper. The last thing is the OS. Windows 8 is horrible IMO because of the metro style. Anyway since you already built it there is not turning back XD

EDIT: That SPU is also locked so you will not be able ot overclock it much if not at all.

The H70 came as a bundle with the 7770 for the price of the 7770 from best buy. I think I might use it in a future build. My gpu actually runs most games I've played at ultra, and I'm not looking for a crazy system that runs everything at max fps on max settings. I consider myself a moderate player that switched out my console for a PC and at medium level graphic settings it's fine for my needs. I'm considering getting another 7770 for a crossfire configuration, and I realize I would need a new mobo as well. I just wanted the 600W just in case. When I purchased the 1333 RAM it was marked down quite a bit and I was on a budget. And yes, win 8 is not up to my standards as a new OS. It's just too optimized for tablets and phones.

I would not suggest crossfireing the 7770. It will probably be more economic if you just bought a better one such as the 7870 which can play anything on max and is not overkill then sold the 7770.
