This was entirely purchased from newegg, during the cyber week sales. It was built for a friend as a gift to their daughter looking to do graphics design and some fps fun.

The ram was listed as 0.00 because it was bundled with the motherboard for 85.98. The Barracuda is really cheap because it was a refurb. And because of cyber week a lot of things were an instant savings of 5-15 dollars. Good time to build.

For nearly sub $400 it scored a 1854 in Valley Benchmark 1.0 under the Extreme HD preset, while my personal machine which most would say is "significantly better" only scored a 1999. For comparison, that is an i7-4790, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd, gtx770. I would say that this machine performs at nearly the same level for the cost of my graphics card alone when it was new, that seems very acceptable.

What do you think of g4400, looking to get one for a budget build with rx 470

aceCaptainSlow 1 point 28 months ago

it's much better cost/performance ratio than an i3, go for it.

will the g4400 bottleneck the rx 470?

I have this setup and most games won't bottleneck. If your on a tight budget it's good but if you have the extra £100 without compromising on the GPU then try and get an i5

Will the cpu bottleneck the rx 470?

From everything I have seen, if the cpu does bottleneck it, it isnt by much, this thing performs super well for the price, I paid a lot more for a gaming rig when I built mine. It beats the wheels off of an amd apu situation.

Agreed. I have the same components and see no bottleneck. If you play CPU intensive games then you will but its a solid choice on a budget.

I used to have a PC very similar to this one. Try to avoid large sandbox games. GTA 5 was very smooth, but large chunks of the world would not render properly. I figured it was probably because my Pentium G4500 only had 2 cores with no hyperthreading.

Legit Budget Gaming Rig

Why wouldn't it be legit??

CrispyCram 1 point 28 months ago

I assume it might have something to do with all prices being listed instead of getting hand-me-downs. Other than that I dunno.

Very nice looking build.

RX 470 is about the same level of performance as GTX 770 though. But nice build anyways! :D

Not true, current benchmarks show the RX 470 neck and neck with the GTX 970.
