Description

It had been a while since I built a machine for my own use... use of course meaning gaming (as well as some work and a bit of browsing) and my old Quad Core and 5600ti gfx card were getting a little long in the tooth...

Simple solution ;

Research... Spec... find the best price online for components... purchase... careful build with a touch of OCD... then test boot...

It lives... and it's fast...

Average 118 fps on Ultra (all settings maxed out) at 1080p for Project Cars... CPU max temp at around 47 Celsius

More than sufficient for the time being, as such very happy with it (and it's virtually silent).

Scope to maybe add another Asus GTX980 STRIX later in the year for SLI (if need be), haven't even felt the need to overclock it yet...

Out of curiosity, why do you have three SSDs?

One really fast one for boot/OS/application software, one for Steam and the other one for other games and Origin/GOG. I looked into larger SSD drives, but they are still cost prohibitive at the moment, so it was easier to split. All data goes on the WD 1TB HDD / Cloud.

I see. Thanks for clarifying.

Is it sitting on a metal plate on the floor? Would that attract any kind of unwanted electricity?

The stainless plate is earthed, I needed it to keep the unit off the carpet and free up the vents/filters at the bottom of the case (it attracts enough dust as it is). It works really well (and also stops the wheels on my chair from knocking the case, which is a plus).

Why do you need a Rampage V if you have a 5820k and a 212 Evo? Did you get it for free?
