Description

This was my first time ever building a computer and its been several years in the making as I've always wanted to do it but never had money to actually do it so all it ever was a dream PCPartPicker list.

Here in South Australia in our final year of schooling we have to do a compulsory research project and having the question as How do you build a computer primarily for gaming was the best way I could think of to break it to my mum that I want to build a $2000 PC. long story short, after several days arguing over it I managed to get away with it somehow. yay!

In the early stages of planning the build I didn't really think into a themed build but I did like blue so I chose the Coolermaster Cosmos SE as it had cool blue fans(I laugh at the fact that was my only reason to get the case). I was then looking into motherboard options and saw that the ASRock Extreme6 was a well received board.

All of a sudden it hit me that I wanted to build a Blue/Black PC (Sorry bout the title, just had to do it!) and was hearing good things about the H440 so swapped my choice to that case.

Parts came a couple weeks ago and was built in about 5 hours(if it wasn't for cable managing would have been about 1-2).

Only complaints I have is that the RAM is a darker blue and doesn't match well, The X61 needs returning as it makes a loud crackling sound, The Strix sags straight out of the box! and for some reason the PC doesn't want to boot and freezes on the ASRock screen and shows a debug A2/A3 code(Either a Motherboard or SSD problem).

I also don't have any games at the moment to test this beast but I'm patiently waiting for Project CARS to release and then my free copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. and sorry if this was difficult to read and stuff. when I get around to it ill make it easier to read and add more about other parts and stuff.

I was so confused until I remembered the dress. That was a good one! +1 just for that.

Love the theme and specs, you've inspired me to create a similar build.

You should have gone for the Gigabyte gtx 970 G1 though for the following reason:

Ho well, if you ever decide to upgrade to 980 or some other card in the future, check the gigabyte windforce ones to see if it has the light.

BTW, this is my build so far that I'm basing off yours, pretty similar apart for some slight changes. Plus i already have a razer mouse and keyboard that have blue led.

I actually said "ooohhhhhh" out loud once I realized what that title meant. Very clever. +1

Wow, best white and gold pc ever? Did you paint the PC, or is it a limited edition. Looks wicked!

In all honesty, **** you!

Jks, well built and that crackling is probably the pump. Also, does qnyone else see the dress white and gold in one eye and black and blue in the other?

So you made your mom pay for your gaming computer by way of convincing her it was for school? Must be nice...

just to clarify I paid for it myself. My mum is just really strict on what I spend MY OWN MONEY ON! I have to ask her first before I buy anything.

Nice rig! Awesome job convincing mom to pay for said school project!! Lastly maybe it's me but unless I'm suddenly color blind I see 0 white/gold in this build

if I ever need a disk I can just plug in a external disk drive I have somewhere.

Who needs optical drive, when you have steam for games and netflix for movies.

I was trying to decide on a PSU and I ran across this beautiful build! It's almost the same build that I'm planning with all the same components except an msi z97 mobo and a red colour scheme. Great minds think alike... Anyways, just thought it was an odd coincidence and wanted to share.

I'd recommend the bitfenix PSU if you can afford it. Hasn't let me down and the cables look awesome.

I don't know what the problem is. If it doesn't boot first go it will usually boot the second attempt. one thing I've noticed is that in the middle of the night it will turn itself on and freeze on the A3 code.

It was originally saying A2 and I tried unplugging both the HDD and SSD but neither of them would boot into windows without the other(windows installed on SSD). I think this was to do with both drives being plugged in when installing windows so I re installed windows on the SSD without the HDD plugged in and also wiped the HDD. it can now boot from just the SSD but it still wont boot sometimes. I then swapped around what SATA ports the cables were in to what the motherboard recommended and it still has the problem but now just saying A3. So from that I could only guess the SSD isn't working properly.

Id also say its trying to do updates or something during the night but fails to boot so it just stays on the ASRock screen frozen.

only other thing I can think of is a BIOS update.
