Description

I use it for everyday, Video editing, Gaming, Browsing, And to post it here so everyone can ***** on how much of a waste of money and not so good it is. This build isn't complete; obviously the graphics need to be updated, Just haven't had the time/money.

Note: Had to do a case mod to fit the newest board in there (Evga X79 Classy) This is a modified build from about 1½ years ago so that's why the case is a 800D and not 900. Why a 1200W PSU? Because I could. Update: As predicted alot of people criticizing don't have builds posted on here lol

I would have gone with the i7-3930K (if you overclock which you most definitely should, it pretty much performs the same as the 3970X), and spent the saved money on a better graphics card. That's just me.

I agree with you, in fact the 3960X and 3970X are just overclocked versions of the 3930K. They're the same chip.

For that money, you should hire a cleaning lady :) :)

What are you doing with four optical drives? What exactly did you have to mod in the case?

Probably just drill extra standoff holes because he said he had to mod it to fit the mobo.

I had to cut out a metal divider between the space for the PSU and the main board to get the XL ATX to fit lol

Wow, I can't believe a case of this size (and price) could not accommodate an 8 slot board. Kind of defeats the purpose of the separate compartment for the PSU if you have to cut into it. Was it at least aluminum like the exterior? That's not that had to cut with a dremel.

That's exactly what I had thought when I got the board in and tried to fit it. "You got to be ******* kidding me..." lol I had to get a pin and hammer, Knock out the rivets that go to the back of the case then I got a skill grinder after marking my cut I went to town. Of course I grind'd down all the sharp edges and rounded it off, If I really wanted to I could of repainted the exposed metal but I am going to get a 900 when ever I get around to it and just use that case as a 60Lbs paper weight (I have weighed it @ 67Lbs with all hardware inside)

Very few cases, even among the large ones, actually have 8 or more slots. It is unfortunate :/

How does the PSU Memory and H100i working out??? Do you use Corsair link?

With this budget, you should have got a better gpu.

The question is, are you going to get a new graphics card? This build is beast, and the only graphics card that would suit me with all of this would be nothing less than a TITAN!!!

So you went with a 1200 watt power supply because you could but you didn't go with a 680/7970 (at that time) because you could?

But anyways, at least you recognize the fact that the graphics need updated and I imagine you were just waiting for the newer stuff to come out. I would recommend going for a 780 or 770 with this build.

Okay, that makes sense now. I'm sorry, I think you should put that into the description though =D

His build is a troll build. Seriously if he wants to act stupid I'm going to treat him like a stupid person. The moderation here is way overboard.

Mind explaining how this is a troll build? 4k really isn't all that expensive for a build and he clearly has pictures to accompany the post. In regards to the moderation I'm not sure what to tell you. Users are expected to speak amicably. If that is an issue for you please feel free to send us a support email with your concerns.

It's alienware tier. What's the point of building it if you're just going to do that. No one who is that informed would really do that unless it's to **** with people. To be honest with the money he seems to have it isn't unlikely.

You do realize he sold his SLI 680s to fund something else and the 660 is a temporary card, correct?
