My first build ever. I've been stuck on a laptop and Xbox until now. Just finished grad school and decided to treat myself.

The intention is to use it for work and play. Gaming will probably be its main purpose until I start work in a few months. I was looking for something a little understated. I'm not really into the flashy RGB.

So far there's nothing to complain about. Everything runs well and works as intended.

How'd I do?

Update: New photos of changes I've made. I moved the CPU fan to the correct side and took out the 8 pin adapter for the GPU and just plugged in the 6+2 pin connector from the PSU. Thanks for the help everyone!

Part Reviews

Haven't overclocked and have been able to run every game I've thrown at it so far.

CPU Cooler

Works good.

If you're using a new motherboard for Ryzen, make sure to order the mounting bracket from cooler master. It doesn't come with the cooler itself.

Performs great.

Only complaint is that mine had the RGB light set to a pulsing Red. Being my first build, I thought I did something wrong and spent far too much time rechecking every part. Turns out it was just a light.

Gets the job done. If you want something sleek but want to avoid RGB, this is a great option.

Fast storage. What more could you want?

Video Card

Great card. Can handle everything I throw at it at 1440p. Pretty quiet too. The sensors to monitor temps on different parts of the card are a nice bonus.

Looks great, offers plenty of room for everything, and comes with velcro ties and plenty of holes for cable management.

Power Supply

Comes with everything you could need and every cord is black so it doesn't hurt the aesthetics of a build.

Looks good and performs great. Offers a fantastic price for a G Sync monitor.

Nothing to really complain about. The viewing angles aren't great but I'm looking at it straight on anyways so that doesn't really matter.

Love this keyboard. Very portable and build quality is great for the price.

Really nice, but you should find a way to make those VGA power cables sit straight :P Other than that, looks good!

Thanks! Good call. I'll tie them down.

Great build, but cpu fan on the wrong side?

LaFord22 submitter 1 Build 1 point 19 months ago

Haha, good to know. I'll move it.

I saw other builds with it on that side so I was a bit confused there. Actually thinking about where the air is getting blown, I'm pretty sure you're right.

will this run vr?

LaFord22 submitter 1 Build 1 point 19 months ago

Wasn't the intent, but I don't think it would have any issue running VR.

Congrats on your new build and graduating... Fully enjoy it now while you still have the time!

That's a beauty :D Two things though: 1. Fan on cpu cooler looks wrong. Don't see which way it's blowing. If oriented same way as you back case fan, then good(and you're doing "push")). If not same - it's pull and you did it wrong(attached fan to the wrong side) http://www.overclock.net/t/1199135/hyper-212-testing-push-vs-pull-vs-push-pull-also-horizontal-vs-vertical-positioning <- kinda old, just to give an idea. 2. That 2x6pin to 6+2pin adapter EVGA put in boх is optional. In case your PSU dont have a 6+2. G2 650 does - just connect it straight to 1080 http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=429 I don't know what else to pick at. Maybe ram not beeing 3200, but that's just mainstream talking in me.

Thanks for the help! Fan and GPU connector have been fixed. Photos above.

I accidentally listed the wrong memory, I have DDR4 3000, but it looks like the motherboard only supports up to 2666 so I don’t believe 3200 was doable anyways.

pull, not push. bloody

Nice build. What did you study in grad school?

LaFord22 submitter 1 Build 1 point 18 months ago

Tax accounting. Lot's of fun!

Did the 212 evo work out of the box or did you have to get an upgrade bracket?

LaFord22 submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

I had to order the bracket from Coolermaster because the stock one doesn't work with ryzen boards. It's free so that's nice.

Does you ever reach 165 fps in certain games with that GPU @1440p? I was thinking of using it, but for, very high-ultra 60 fps in games

Dope AF! I also just made my first build, but on way more of a budget than you. https://pcpartpicker.com/b/YYdXsY

That is one very good budget build!
