To start, I would like to thank PCPP for the awesome site. Secondly, I would like thank my friend, Lorimar, who helped me build this rig and introduced me to PCPP. Oh and also my wife who puts up with my crap everyday, including building this rig. Also a shout out to Jipster for the tips on the carbon fiber wrap. I built this to replace my Alienware which turned into a furnace.

This originally had a budget of $1k. But as you can see, I went way over. I'm so happy with the way this turned out though.

There were a few motherboard and GPU manufacturers I was going to go with, EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI, and ASUS. I would have been more than happy with any of these. I went with MSI strictly for the Titanium/Silver aesthetics. I use this mainly for gaming and family photos. I play SWTOR and now Gears of War 4 since it came free with the GTX1070. You will see below the RAM has no price as Newegg had a sale and rebate on the MB and it came with 16GB of RAM free. All of the prices are with the rebates/sale price factored in.

Upgrades in the future ( hopefully ):

960 EVO 500GB M.2 for Windows and most used programs

Custom Silver/Black Cables 24 Pin and 8 pin at the very least

Please give any feedback you can. The only way I will learn more is from the feedback.

Part Reviews

I waited for Kaby Lake for the small performance increase and it's around the same price as the 6600K.

CPU Cooler

Performance is great. CAM software and all of the lighting customizations are the cherry on top.

Thermal Compound

Rated well, seems to work well.

Looks great. On sale plus a rebate and 16GB of RAM free. Click BIOS 5 is easy to use and to overclock the CPU. I have the 7600K at 4.6Ghz @ 1.29V stable. Bios Flashback+ was nice but you need an older USB 2.0 Flash Drive (newer one's don't work) that have FAT32 format. I tried 4 drives before I found one that worked. I bought this awhile before I heard about the Z270 boards coming out.

It's 16GB of RAM and it came free with the motherboard. Easy choice =)

Got on the cheap off of Ebay. 960GB for $207 I though was a pretty good deal. Nice and fast.

Video Card

Wanted a 8GB card without the GTX 1080 price tag, so I went with a GTX 1070. It's a nice looking card. I have it at 2012mHz =) Fan curve set on idle until 60C. Temps are at 32C not under load. I haven't played GoW4 or SWTOR on this yet.

Nice case to work with, especially for $70. Grommets are nice and cable management was fairly easy, although I need to go back a clean things up a bit (just wanted to get it up and running). Wish i got the tempered glass though.

Power Supply

80+ Gold, fully modular and got on super sale. Had a good review on Johnny Guru. More than enough wattage for now and down the road.

Case Fan

Quiet, keeps my system cool, and looks great. Very happy with these.

Cherry MX Brown switches and blue back light for $30 ( was half price and had $50 rebate). Party. Just wish it was RGB, but for $30 I can't and won't complain.

plz answer, do you have any problems with the monitor and dose it look fine ? i am thinking of buying one.

Volkov submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

No problems at all. Frameless is nice. Well worth the price for a 2k monitor. It's 4ms 60hz though. But for $170 it's a steal

Still running flawlessly. Looks great, no issues.

May I ask how you installed the kraken liquid cooler? Push our pull? Top or back of case? If top, did you have to take out the hard drive bracket? Thanks in advance!

Volkov submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

I installed it on the top. Push configuration. I took out the optical drive bracket. The cooler is awesome btw. I have 2x 140mm fans in the front and one 140mm in back with the cooler on top. You still may be able to keep the optical bracket but it would be close. I didn't bother since an optical drive wasn't in my plans. Although, I would like to have the option. Let me know if it works if you try it.
