Description

This was just meant to be a solid gaming build to replace my aging laptop. It was my first time building a PC and all went smoothly. I was originally planning on getting a 7970, but downgraded the GPU at the last moment as I was going over budget. Almost everything was purchased around Black Friday so prices were considerably lower than what's shown. The case and extra fans were the last components purchased and also the only ones which weren't on sale. I was trying not to pay full price for anything, but got tired of waiting for a deal on these. The price breakdown is as follows (after rebates, prices in Canadian Dollars):

CPU $185 CPU Cooler $29.99 Motherboard $119.99 Memory $30.99 Storage 2tb $69.99 SSD $139.99 Video Card $269.99 Case $119.99 Power Supply $79.99 Optical Drive $14.99 Monitor $139.99 Operating System $79.99 Case Fans Bitfenix Spectre Pro 140mm $14.99 Cougar Vortex HDB 140mm $19.99 Cougar Vortex HDB 140mm $19.99

Total: $1335.86

Thanks. So far the 7950 has been great. I've mostly been playing GTA IV and Dirt 3, both with graphics settings maxed out and it's been flawless. I've played around with overclocking it in benchmarks a bit, but for regular gaming it hasn't been necessary.

I would be greatly interested in seeing unigine heaven benchmarks all maxed with tessellation set to extreme and without, with a +80Mhz Overclock from stock. I'm really curious about the 7950s performance and if you'd be interested in discussing further I'd appreciate the insight. Hit me up at IamPropos

How is the Monitor?

So far the monitor is fantastic, but to be fair I'm coming from a laptop so I don't really have much to compare it to.

True, I'll be doing the same soon. The only other monitor to compare to is an old HP LCD. Which is decent, but not what I want. Do you game on the Monitor?
