Description

First PC Build. (imgs soon)

Mainly used for Gaming and occasional video editing.

-decided to buy Win 8.1 even though I could have probably dled a cracked version

-WD Green taken from older PC

-2 TB WD Blacks purchased second-hand

-Not indicated in pictures, I have moved the WD Drives to the the uppermost drive cages (optical bays), leaving the bottom cage open to allow airflow

-Watch out for those EVGA PSU cables, they are really stiff and difficult to bend

-the ASUS STRIX GT 970 fits perfectly inside the Phantom 410 without even removing the center removable drive cage bay

-Phantom NZXT 410 built-in fan controller makes high pitch noises (kind of like coil whine) periodically; temporary fix for this is to press down/smack down on the top of the case several times until the sound subsides

-really love the quality of the Noctua fans, worth every penny

-no real major problems thus far

In hindsight, I probably should have gotten the H440 or the Refine R4 that has good dust filters (not the ****** mesh that the phantom 410 has). I also missed out on pre-ordering the GTX 970 from NCIX when it first came out, where it was around $380, rather than $400 when I got it.

GTX 970's 3.5GB VRAM not really an issue for me, as I play all games at 1080p.

Is it me, or is there a slight sag on the GPU?

It's the PC. Yeah there is a sag. I suggest trying to prop the gpu up somehow to get rid of it.

Oh alright, I thought it was the angle it was taken or my eyes were playing tricks on me. Did you purchase the 970 from Amazon?

I'm assuming you meant to ask me that question. I bought my 970 from Canada Computers.

Yeah, there is a sag due to the weight of the GPU. I haven't been able to find something suitable to prop the GPU up.

It may just be bad angle, but the cooler also looks slanted.

I think I might have screwed up during the cooler placement. I'm kinda lazy to re-position it now.

As long as it keeps those temps down, all that matters.

Very nice! I'm about to do a build, and I'm going to use WD blacks too? How fast are they?
