Description

A Gift for my mother for Christmas. Very light gaming/web browsing PC for the living room, the first computer i built myself :) Gave myself a strict $400 budget, with some lucky sales I managed to put together what I think (and what my mother thinks, as she's been using an ancient laptop for the longest time.. 300mb ram, single core.. cringe) is a pretty great system for what it's to be used for.

(Pictures were taken after it had been used for a while, so it's a bit dusty. Told her it was on her to clean it, showed her how even. Randomly decided to take quick pics to put up on here, found out she hadn't cleaned it since I passed it off to her... Shall be getting a thorough cleaning tonight!

TBH, cable management is not great, but in that case and with such budget, you did more than well. Your mother must be stunned by the speed, I know that my mum makes coffee while the PC boots.

Good son. You might want to get her a SSD in the future. It'll give the system that extra punch.

Only thing I'd say could have been better..PSU. 600W is wayy overkill. A 430W CX would have been half the price.

Good job bud I plan to do the same for my mother at some point LOL! I may consider getting her a hybrid drive personally just so its a little quicker but otherwise I would take the same route you have. Perhaps a little nicer case maybe white LOL! Although that would cost me a little more but none the less would still be under $500 if I pick the parts out right. Anyhow love that little build maybe toss her another 4GB RAM later on and speed up the machine a bit and she would be even more impressed I'm sure LOL!

Nice little build. I'm sure mom is happy. I would harp on the cables but I'm sure your mom doesn't mind. It might help with cleaning out the dust though.

Great budget build! I like how you didn't skimp on the Power Supply. Nice work.
