Description

Hi,

That's my current gaming build, the "DragonBox". I think I've done a great cable managment on this one, I'm pretty proud of it ;) Corsair 250D is a fantastic case to work with, really well made and give the opporunety to create a real airflow. The other components are all very good, especialy the GPU with the GTX970 serie, this one is from MSI, very nice work.

CPU : Nohting to say about it, haven't OC it yet, don't became too hot, seems to be a great product.

GPU : By far the best GPU I've purchased. Incredible low temp on idle and even on full load. Runs all games in 60fps@1080p and that's what I wanted.

CPU Cooler : I've bought it just a couple days ago. I'm kinda disappointed, it's noisy, high picth noise very annoying. But doing an incredible work and can maintain the CPU under the 55° on full load.

Corsair 250D : Probably the best mITX case, for me. So much space in this 30cm cube. Great cable managment options by using just two 2.5" hard drive or SSD.

Ram : please dont tell me it's blue, I'm having nightmares because of it Haha. I already had it and it's a good one so I didn't want to change it..

Thanks for watching, feel free to ask any kind of question. (sorry for my English, cheers from France ;))

update 22/10/2014 : I was to much disapointed about this high pitch noise from the Corsair H100i pump so I've decided to put back my good old Antec 620 H2o and all is fine, I've got the exact same temperatures (55° on load) and it's much more quieter. I've add a picture to show the push/pull possibility of the case. I've buy a Noctua NA-SYC1 to be able to plug 3 fans on the same PWM header.

That moment when someeone really made a great cable management in a mini-itx case

Wow, I love it! WTH is that HDD though? :D 54000rpm, that's just wrong man. Hehehehe, I'm just kidding, hopefully it's some spare part you had lying around.

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

Haha thanks. For this HDD, that's just for storage and installing games. I've seen bench and for this usage 7200 or 5400 doesn't matter.

andrewgenes 2 points 37 months ago

Great build!

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 2 points 37 months ago

Thanks ! ;)

plgdg 1 Build 1 point 37 months ago

I was completely on board with this until I saw your blue memory :(

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 3 points 37 months ago

Haha don't mention it ! I'm so frustrating about it. I already had it, and I don't want to pay 100€ more for just à Red one

Jesso2k 7 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

It really is a pain. I've wanted to go different directions with my build in the past but it's only gotten redder and redder as I've replaced everything but the perfectly capable ram. For my second build (which happens to be a 250D) I made sure to get black ram.

Hussein.H 1 point 32 months ago

Eh, you could have gotten some Corsair memory in red for an extra £2.

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 2 points 30 months ago

As I said, it was already bought before the build.

nigerianjones 1 point 37 months ago

I could give a crap about cosmetics, Im all about utility.

Very nice build! Love the name +1

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

Thanks ;)

ncarter13 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

out of curiosity was the CPU cooler a refurb?

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

No, brand new one :( That's making this high pitch noise : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRKbCKsD5Yg seems to be the normal noise.. I'm just unlucky that noise frequency is pretty aggresive for me.

MaskedMonster21 1 Build 1 point 37 months ago

Sweet rig!

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

canders 7 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

Nice. Great work with cable management. Very clean.

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

Thanks, took me lot of time !

bobby0825 1 Build 1 point 37 months ago

+1 Nice cable management, you have the same cable management style as me but I see you have improvement on audio cables! You are welcome to take a look of my build.

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

Oh hi ! In fact my build is nearly a "homage" ! I've seen your build thinking "Yeah that's exactly what I want" and here we are ;) ! Thanks for checking my build, you gave me many ideas for this one ;)

bobby0825 1 Build 1 point 37 months ago

I am happy I can give other friends some ideas to build a itx pc. I wanna thank you to give me the idea to redo my audio cable! BTW, Gigabtye mobo has ideal layout for this case.

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

Yep, really good part of this build. Tonight maybe I'll be closer to your build because I'll try to replace my noisy H100i by my "old" Antec H2o 620, single 120mm Watercooling. If it's maybe less noise, I'll keep it in the build.. Because this high pitch noise from the Corsair one is so annoying.

rogueone 1 Build 1 point 37 months ago

I like the h100i...was a bit noisy early but I think I updated the firmware and it was ok??? I'm sure I saw something about it.....

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

I'm running the lastest firmware :( 1.0.7 and still this high pitch noise.. Like him : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRKbCKsD5Yg

Zauski 1 point 37 months ago

This is outstanding. Easily one of the best 970 builds I've seen yet. +1

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

Oh thank you Zauski ;)

700mAdOg700 1 point 37 months ago

Nice build! I would have gone with red ram sticks just because of my OCD. Love the 970 and i5 4690k combo, how are you liking them? Im getting the same thing

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

Hi ! Thank you ;) I love this combo, you're right, it's a perfect one and I really think they will last few years. I'm running all on stock frequency.

alnakib80 7 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

I just bought the 250d, and this is my go to now but as I was researching GPUs there have been many contradictions as to fitment and I would like the exact same 970 you have. Any fitment issues? reasonably straight forward to install in this case? any heat on the plexy window? Thanks again.

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 37 months ago

Hi, Really any problem with this card, really. Just have to slide it and - click ! ;) No that's a good combo, for sure. Haven't try to touch the plexy but there is around 0.5/1cm between the GPU and this window, so that's fine.

OresGaming 1 point 37 months ago

Pretty. ;3

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 2 points 37 months ago

Thanks ;)

ItzExide 1 point 37 months ago

How does that I5 work for you?

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 36 months ago

That's a beast in game ;)

gsingh2793 1 point 36 months ago

How was the layout of the motherboard? I'm going with a 250D, H100i, and 970(soon) build as well but I haven't picked out the motherboard yet. Did the motherboard's placement of CPU power, 24 pin, front I/O, SATA, etc make cable management easy?

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 36 months ago

Yes it's perfect for this case, you can look at my cable managment, all was pretty easy. The worst thing in this build was to plug HDD.. Not very well placed.

pyropanda1 1 point 36 months ago

I must say I used to hate small box cases like that but you are an exception this thing is AMAZING. Looks so good and would be a beast to game on

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 36 months ago

Thanks ;) Yeah that's a very nice machine to play with.

mattwil 1 point 36 months ago

Dude. Like seriously Dude. I love your build, but the crazy thing is I have the same build planned! same processor, same graphics card, same cooler (though i might find another one if you are right that it is noisy), same ssd, same motherboard, same case. Kind of crazy.

I'm curious, after some time with it has everything been pretty good? I know you replaced the cooler, but is the graphics card and the rest fared well?

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 36 months ago

Haha yeah that's kinda crazy, you're right :D Everything is runing very well, right now, writing here, my CPU is 25° and my GPU is 32°, perfect. In game everything is below 55° for CPU and 65° for GPU. I haven't any little thing to complain about this build.

City-Ninja 1 point 36 months ago

Great build! Any idea if it would benefit from 2 sticks of 8gig ram instead and would it fit? I do graphic design work (photoshop - heavy photo editing, design comps and illustrator work) would it handle it fine? Possible to turn it into a hackintosh?

sorry for all the questions but I'm inspired by this build and I would like to do something similar.

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 36 months ago

Hi, I'm very sorry but I can't really answer to all of this this I'm not using it like the way you want. I just know that it's a beast in gaming so I guess it can handle many things ;)

ant12313 1 point 35 months ago

Its okay, your ram goes well with your usb 3.0 ports :)

planeguy255 1 point 34 months ago

nice build, though perhaps you should have gone for some pressure optimized fans instead for better cooling, the Sp120s for example

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 32 months ago

I've changed them for BeQuiet ones now ;)

figgypuddin 2 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

Nice build!

How did you test your GPU load temps? I ran BF4 ultra for around an hour with same card and it only got up to 62C with an OC to 1.35ghz core and 7.81ghz mem.

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 32 months ago

It depends your room temperature too ;) I've tested in quite the same situation than you.

unSatisfied 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

My $35 air cooler (Enermax ETS T40-TB) keeps my CPU (i7 4790k) around 50 C under full load (game running + video rendering in vegas + Skype/Teamspeak + Music + Visual Studio open).. Nice build though, I have the same GPU :)

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 32 months ago

Thanks.

tdlloyd 1 point 32 months ago

Awesome build. I am actually just a new CPU away to assembling a similar build in the same case. I wanted to know which orientation you have the CPU cooler setup? Intake or exhaust? And are you keeping an overall negative or positive pressure case? Thanks, and it looks awesome! Hope I can get mine to look this clean.

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 32 months ago

That's in exhaust. Intake from the front.

Hussein.H 1 point 32 months ago

This is neat! +1 for everything, especially that cable management and the HD photos!

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks a lot ;)

Zeoheart 1 point 31 months ago

I know this is super late, but how is the motherboard bend under the GPU? You appear to have the 250D from before they retooled the facilities to fix the back bracket being too low (hence sagging the motherboard).

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

I've order the faulty part on the Corsair website. Google will help you through this ;)

stokeddisconick 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

great build best mini ATX build i,ve seen because you haven't compromised due to the size limitations and the case is amazing! good job

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

Thanks ;) ! Love it too.

museprime 1 point 29 months ago

Hey how is the motherboard I've been on the ropes on picking it up do to the mixed reviews

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

It's awesome, haven't any complains about it.

HungryHoneyBadger 1 point 26 months ago

can I use the Antec H2O 950 instead of 620? ty

Toukassay submitter 2 Builds 1 point 26 months ago

Can't tell you.
