Description

So I actually bought all the main components last year, but I had been using it with an AIO cooler in the Phanteks Evolv TG case in silver... which was fine, but I really wanted another black and white build.

Ever since Corsair had released the 570X in white, I had it in my mind that I would take the opportunity to change case and do my first custom water loop. I was even considering getting the Asus x299 Prime deluxe and i9 7900k to match, but Skylake X will be dead soon, just like Kabylake... so I decided to stick with the 7700K for now and paint my Asus Formula IX white instead.

What do I use this for?

I mainly use this rig for music production and 4K gaming. I haven't bothered overclocking the CPU yet... really no need at this time. I've OC'd the GPU though and it's a steady 60FPS while gaming in 4K

Water cooling

At first I planned to go with all EKWB parts, but having done lots of research and seeing many others' builds, I didn't want to restrict myself, so I sourced most parts from different places.

My plan was to cool the motherboard too, but once I got all the rads and fans in the case, uh oh, there wasn't enough clearance for the fittings... so I had to redo a couple of bits and reconfigure my loop.

I used the 14mm Barrow bending kit, which was ok for the price. The silicone insert went into the ID a little too easily, but it got the job done and on odd occasion, I worked the heat gun to reshape any hiccups. The PETG cutters, however, were very bad. The blade went blunt after a few cuts and started destroying the ends of my tubes. I ended up buying a much higher quality cutter from Amazon, which did the trick nicely.

  • The pump reservoir combo - Having followed their channel for some time now, I knew I needed the Singularity Protium res/pump combo. The slight problem is that you can't buy SC components in the UK... Performance PCs in the US was the best choice for me. Arrived in the UK within 3 days, perfectly packaged.

  • Fittings and tubing - It was go hard or go home for me. The downside being the ridiculous cost associated with it! 12mm tubing looks too skinny and I had read 16mm was quite hard to work with, especially for tight bends... so the I went with 14/10mm PETG as a nice in between. EKWB don't do this size, so the next best thing was either Bitspower, XSPC or Barrow

I chose Barrow for 3 reasons... -1 I had seen many say the quality are extremely comparable with Bitspower quality. -2 They don't have that cheesy dragon logo. -3 Cost. Paying up to £16 for one compression fitting is just outrageous (ahem, Bitspower deluxe white...).

I did, however, go with a Bitspower mini valve for the drain port and Singularity Computers stop fittings.

  • Radiators - Not really spoiled for choice due to the size of the 570X and the length of my GPU - I had to go slim and EK SE 360 and 240 were the obvious choice

  • Fans - I'm a Corsair fanboy, I admit. The LL120s are not cheap... and I'm not into the whole unicorn rainbow vomit lighting, but It's nice to know I can mix it up when I'm feeling in a vibrant mood. Oh yeah, they cool really well and are very quiet too.

  • Waterblocks - EK were the only choice I even entertained. I know Phanteks and Thermaltake have started up their own lines now, but I stuck with the tried and trusted.

Looks great! I'm doing my first build next week and it's almost identical to this except I'm not doing a custom loop since it's my first time around.

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 3 points 16 days ago

Nice dude. Good luck with the build!

DaMysteryMan 1 Build 1 point 15 days ago

If you haven’t already bought the parts go coffee lake.

tdwyer9 1 Build 2 points 15 days ago

Ya all of my parts have been purchased. Just waiting to take my last final exam (school) this week then I'll be building next week. I'm not sure if my saved parts list shows yet since I haven't posted it.

DaMysteryMan 1 Build 1 point 15 days ago

Oh. When did you buy the parts?

tdwyer9 1 Build 1 point 15 days ago

Throughout March & April. Didn't buy everything all at once because I was trying to wait for items to go on sale. But ya to answer your original question, I went coffee lake, 8700k

DaMysteryMan 1 Build 1 point 15 days ago

Oh, nice! I’m going to do the same thing with next gen card.

calebzhou138 4 points 16 days ago

Calling a feature here. I would be disappointed if it wasn't. This is too good. Keep the great work up.

DaMysteryMan 1 Build 4 points 15 days ago

Liquid cool the VRMs!!!

Just add like 2 fittings!

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 days ago

I wanted to... but like I said in my description, the fans are juuust in the way of the top inlet, so I couldn't squeeze in the fitting without a mod :(

Honestly though, it's a hybrid cooling system on the Formula, so the temps are fine without

DaMysteryMan 1 Build 2 points 15 days ago

90 degree adapter.

LIVE_AMMO 4 points 14 days ago

BEAUTIFUL!

Would have been +1 and a half

But you mentioned Iphone X, just +1 for you lol

Houndour 1 Build 2 points 16 days ago

Unbelievably polished. I love this. That RAM/GPU combo. I want it!

bbogle86 1 Build 2 points 16 days ago

Excellent!

facelift13 2 Builds 2 points 16 days ago

Very nice looking build mate! Super clean. simple bends, consistent color scheme. AWESOME!

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 days ago

Thanks dude. That's exactly what I was going for, so I appreciate that :)

Duncan034 5 Builds 2 points 16 days ago

Add more photos and beef up your description and you have yourself a feature. This build is too clean to not feature.

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 days ago

Thanks dude! Just added some progress pics - I'll add a little more to the description soon :)

Duncan034 5 Builds 3 points 14 days ago

Called it :P

CamF 1 Build 2 points 15 days ago

Black and white looks so elegant among all the RGB builds, LOL.

Velocitron2000 2 points 15 days ago

This looks really nice, not sure what else to say. Excellent job, dude!

saracatlee 2 Builds 2 points 15 days ago

Nice! What camera did you use to take the photos?

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 2 points 15 days ago

iPhone X haha

saracatlee 2 Builds 1 point 15 days ago

Seriously?? A mobile phone? Lmao. I've been struggling to take good photos of my PCs LEDs using a $1000 camera and here people are using their phones taking better photos than me hahaha.

Take a look, the colors are washed out: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/8LbXsY

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 15 days ago

lol - know, I was surprised too!

There's a few great pics there dude... maybe next time try taking the glass off the case, so you're camera is not fighting with glare?

saracatlee 2 Builds 2 points 15 days ago

Actually, with the exception of one of the photos, they were all taken with the side panel off.

It's really the colors I'm having issues with, at least when it comes to the LEDs. They're just... washed out and not as bright and colorful as they are in person. I'm going through everyone's builds and it's one thing they seem to get right.

I guess I'll just play around with the settings. I was originally going to ask what your settings were, then you mentioned you used your phone lmao. Thanks anyways tho!

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 days ago

Ah, sorry I couldn't help. Good luck dude :)

Apielo 1 point 14 days ago

You are telling me that when i finally get around to uploading my build i can just Use my iphone X for pictures? That saves me time and money because now i dont have to get a camera.

JoeFischerz 1 point 13 days ago

I u were planing on buying a camera just to take photos and upload it to there I don't know what to say

Al2Me6 2 points 14 days ago

Awesome looking build! Love that tube between the radiators. You really need to check out Heatkiller's waterblocks. Perhaps not as much unicorn barf, but in my opinion much more stylish and definitely performs better. Also to be honest... EK is kinda overrated. Seriously.

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 days ago

Thanks :)

I did consider the heatkiller IV, but it’s not as widely available as EK in the UK and watercool don’t do a block for my 1080Ti... so stuck with EK to match

dhess34 2 Builds 2 points 14 days ago

Dammmmmn that’s clean. Wow. One of the best looking builds I’ve ever seen.

ljppkgfgsc 1 Build 2 points 14 days ago

Love the white build with RGB.

KegiMasters 2 points 14 days ago

+1 The north pole is jealous already.

philphaser 12 Builds 2 points 14 days ago

Yeah, that's a beauty! ...btw: let us hear your productions!

Shorty88jr 2 Builds 2 points 14 days ago

That's really nice I love black and white builds they look so clean. It puts my black and white/ Destiny themed build to shame. https://pcpartpicker.com/b/xCMZxr

LonghornAlamo2040 2 points 13 days ago

Mmm! I love black&white.

xconnor 2 points 13 days ago

deserved the feature. beautiful build with the setup to match!

scarfxce 1 Build 2 points 13 days ago

I love how the dominator platinums look in black and white builds. Obviously the idea of it looking good isnt too far-fetched because its neutral colored, but man i like it better than black or white ram that "match better". Looks super clean

johnny8557 2 Builds 2 points 13 days ago

beautiful build, bro!!!usually not a big fan of white, but you just did it so good and it looks amazing!one of the best loops ive seen on here for a good while....dont ya just hate when CPU to GPU isn't a nice straight shot thou.lol...ya got 1+ from me on this awesome build again...thx for sharing it with us:)

RIPRoyale 2 points 11 days ago

Corsair "Fan"boy

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 days ago

The pun was intentional... and I'm not sorry about it :)

pat34us 1 Build 2 points 9 days ago

You need to simmer down, you are making the rest of us look bad in comparison :) Did you paint the motherboard? What kind of paint did you use?

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 days ago

Haha - I did indeed. I used a matt white spray paint :)

F22 1 point 16 days ago

How would you rate this case vs Phanteks Evolv TG?

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 days ago

I still love the Evolv and it's actually easier to build in - little things like space at the bottom of the motherboard to route your front panel cable etc. were well planned by Phanteks, which Corsair could've taken note of.

Everything in the 570X felt like a squeeze, but my god, once she's all dolled up, she's worth it

F22 1 point 16 days ago

Thanks! :) What about airflow and temps overall>?

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 2 points 16 days ago

Hard to compare the 2 as I didn't have a full custom water loop in the Evolv... but the Evolv temps were fine using a Kraken x62 and stock air cooler on the Strix 1080Ti. I believe flow is a bigger issue for that case when running multiple water blocks and rads though

F22 2 points 15 days ago

Thank you

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 days ago

Hi all - added a few more pics, but I didn't think to take any progress pics unfortunately. The only ones I had were for me to reference during the build, so aren't great

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 days ago

Few more pics including temps and performance (mid-game of BF1) and desk layout :)

DooDchii 1 point 16 days ago

Dude this build is AMAZING i am blowen away , i am doing this build if you don’t mind and can you tell me the step on how to build it

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 days ago

Thanks man - If you have any specific questions about how I did something, shoot... though I'm probably not the best person to tell anyone how to build their PC... and it would take me forever to write out how I built this step-by-step lol.

My advice is = Youtube is your friend. I learned so much just watching PC and waterloop guides, researching components and reading build guides on forums :)

HazordouSam 1 point 15 days ago

Yah

HarvesterofSorrow 2 Builds 1 point 14 days ago

thas crayzeeeee

w4rchef 1 Build 1 point 14 days ago

May I ask what your temperature monitoring program is? And cool build btw +1

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 2 points 14 days ago

NZXT CAM. Thanks :)

simonxliu 1 point 14 days ago

Personally would have gone with a different slim radiator. The SE line are the worst performing slim radiators on the market by a surprisingly large margin for such a well known manufacturer.

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 days ago

I know they're not the best and I was considering Hardware Labs black ice rads, but I needed the thinnest possible. Not sure if you can see, but there is only a 2mm gap between the GPU and Res... so they wouldn't have fit :/

simonxliu 1 point 14 days ago

Ah yeah I was wondering if fitment was the issue. Hardwarelabs GTS rads are 1mm thicker than SE rads and a little longer too.

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 days ago

3.6mm thicker to be exact ;) lol

westwandaguys 1 point 13 days ago

Looks great. Love the keyboard too how you mixed the stock and double shot caps.

I would recommend having the tube come out of the top radiator and into the top VRM port, which would then exit into the CPU block. edit: just read what you said in the description. thats a bummer!

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 days ago

Thanks man. That was exactly my plan, but there isn’t enough space between the fans and inlet, so I had to ditch that idea and go with this instead

Irnman2 1 point 13 days ago

sweet

Burnintheham 1 point 12 days ago

do you think it would be worth it to go with a thicker 360 rad?

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 days ago

Wasn’t possible due to the length of the strix and my mounted reservoir

kingawsume 1 point 12 days ago

Y u no liquid the RAM?

+1 regardless. Love the a s t h e t i c

Jackison 1 point 12 days ago

Sick build quick question though... is that a vape in bottom, left pic 5?

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 1 point 12 days ago

Thanks - oh yeah, totally unintentional though! It's just always on my desk :)

TheGamingPc -4 points 14 days ago

Maybe you Could Redo your tubing in the future to put hardline tubing for cleaner and nicer looks. Anyways Amazing Great Build!

jordan.perry submitter 1 Build 2 points 14 days ago

This is hardline (PETG) dude lol. I just did a fair few bends

TheGamingPc 1 point 11 days ago

Oh

johnny8557 2 Builds 1 point 13 days ago

no soft tube is gonna run lines that straight at the height some are at in this build
