Description

This is my first build! Everything went well and it is running beautifully. Looking back I may have chosen to go with a different brand of GPU, but what's done is done. Also, the 400r was a dream to build in although I could do without a few features.

This is a great single card build that will ran at 1080p wonderfully. I'd love to see some picturse of the guts and stuff. You chose some solid quality parts. Good job. How was managing the cables?

There are a few pictures up now and more coming. I had a few problems uploading them. Managing the cables was quite easy with the extra space the case provides.

Agreed with Apropo. Very clean and well balanced build! Makes me more anxious for my upcoming first PC Build.

To me, EVGA is a great brand GPU, what makes you say that?

They have great customer service ;) Though there are probably better performance cards within the same range. Not sure the builders thoughts or which other cards he'd have prefered.

Agreed. It had nothing to do with performance, but more the cooling system on the EVGA cards and the placement of the power connections.

well that is interesting, can you please explain more about why the cooling on these were more appealing to you and the thought behind the placement of the power connections? I cannot speak from experience but from what I've read some 600 series cards with more advanced cooling options like the MSI Twin Frozr have better temps when under load.

This is true the refence cards run a little hotter vs cards that have after market coolers with 2x or 3x fans on them.

MSI's Twin Frozr cooling is phenomenal. It's a matter of whether you want the heat to be dispersed more to the rest of your case, or contained in the graphics card (MSI for the former, and EVGA the latter.) EVGA's cards by no means run at unsafe temps, but they'll generally run significantly hotter than you would see in a Twin Frozr card.

Someone gave me a broken 7900 gt (popped capacitor). Looked it up and it had a lifetime warranty. Called them up, shipped it to them, and they sent me a 8800 gtx as a replacement without any fuss.
