First off, I just want to say thank you to the people here on the forums who helped me make decisions on the CPU and GPU to go with. I was working with a very tight budget and got some pieces overtime as they went on sale.
This was my first time building from the ground up. I always had a prebuilt pc and would upgrade a part here and there. The case was a gift from my dad, so i didn't include that in the price. The 1Tb hdd was from my previous pc, I did manage to install windows on the ssd and format the hdd for games and anything else. The PSU was also from my previous pc so I left that out of the price too.
Overall everything went well. I was hoping nothing got shipped to me DOA (I've read a lot of reviews where that's happened) because some of the parts I've had sitting for almost 2 months before I got to put it all together. I had no problem getting the RAM to the rated speed of 3200.
Edit - I ran some temps on it for a while over the weekend to see how it performed. It stays around 40 degrees at idle and 70-71 under load. Performance wise its been great. I dont play a ton of graphically demanding games so it'll be just fine for what I use it for.
I benchmarked it with UserBenchmark - Scored in the 80th percentile. The GPU was a llittle low but i expected that. Hind sight i should have spent an extra $50 and went with a 1660 super, but whatever. This does what i need it to do and it does it very well.
Overwatch on Epic settings 80 fps, ultra settings 90-100 fps Monster hunter world - 90-100 fps More games to be listed as i havent downloaded everything yet...
What can I say? Best all around value CPU. 41 degrees at idle and 70-71 degrees under load. I'm glad I went with this CPU.
Putting it together was a little bit of a pain in the butt. But, other than that its working great and keeps my CPU frosty. RGB was a bit of a pain... But i also blame ASRock Polychrome Sync for that issue. Overall, I recommend this cooler.
Great MoBo, got it at a great price on black friday. The only thing I dont like is that when i put my pc to sleep or shut down the IO cover and PCH Heatsink cover stays lit up. But thats nothing major. Also, Polychrome sync is a pain in the butt...
Good RAM, had no issues getting it to go to 3200 as rated. I even got this on a black friday sale for under $60.
Used this to store windows on. super fast load times! Great buy!
Gets the job done, Has served me well for almost 4 years now.
Well, this card is about one of the best 5500's on the market. With that said, you might as well pay a little extra for a 5600 or even a 1660 super if you're not just going to jump to a 2060 or higher end card. It does what i need it to, and its great. But for just a few more $$ you could get a lot better. I'm happy with it though.
Overall this case isnt the best. I got it as a gift so i cant complain. It can be a little tight working in this case. and the top and front glass panels are a real pain to get off. Aesthetically it matches my mouse and keyboard, so i ended up turning all the RGB to the same color green to keep the theme going.
I got this PSU about 2 -3 years ago. Great price point and great performance. Highly recommend.
