Description

Nice APU with lots of cores, hyper-threading and better than GT 1030 iGPU. Cheap mobo to overclock on. Minimum amount of memory, slightly faster than 2400Mhz. Cheap storage, plenty for a ten year old. The case holds the parts, what more can i say. Cheap power supply for good future proofing. Great system for his needs.

Good build overall. The only thing I would change is a slightly better moterboard with 4 dimm slots, for future upgrades in ram, but other than that, he'll be set for a while.

Good job on helping out a family member. If he gets into gaming more seriously, you could toss in a 1050Ti pretty easily. Only thing I would recommend is to flip the cpu cooler and have it blowing the air toward the rear case fan. That way the case fan pulls the hot cpu air out the back, rather than it getting sucked in to the power supply.

That is my only concern is the airflow. The only am4 mounting on the T2 is the clip and it can only blow up or down.

I mean you could just get the Hyper 212 EVO yes it costs more but it is worth it. all you need to do after that is to get the am4 mounting bracket.

Good build! Cable management in that case though must have been a bear.

Did you have any problems with the BIOS update? Could you let me know what you did with the update, I'm sorta new to the PC community and looking for a beginner gaming PC.

  • 1 point

Yeah no problem. I did have to update the bios using a first gen Ryzen chip. i had to use a jumper to reset the JBAT1 before that. pm me if you need anymore help!

Nice! i'm starting to plan a similar build for a friend but with an amd a8. How's the apu holding up?

  • 2 points

The A8 is a nice low-end APU. We have not gotten to test 2400g yet.

I would have gone with a noctua l9a-am4

Where's your graphics card?

  • 2 points

The 2400g has integrated graphics that out perform a GT 1030

You don’t even need to pay for Windows it works fine without a key. It’s free.

Yes, but it give you this watermark I believe stating that you need to activate windows. I would prefer not to have the watermarks.

Read the msg. It’s not incompatible at all.

  • 1 point

it says not compatible because of the bios. i updated the mobo bios using a first gen ryzen chip :)

Depends on the timings. At 18CL it is most certainly not “good”
