Description

I apologize in advance for the scatter-brainedness of this description.

This was my first build, born out of nerd inferiority at computer science school. It's supposed to have a black and white color scheme (hence the name), but I waited until I was halfway done ordering parts before I decided to care about color. Most of the exterior parts fit, but the inside is a little mismatched.

I haven't had a chance to run any tests yet, but it plays games on max settings with no lag, no noise, and no noticeable heat. No, I haven't tried overclocking it. I plan on upgrading the processor to 6 or 8 cores at some point. I would appreciate feedback, both on the build itself and on my description writing skills, which I know are decidedly lackluster. Thanks!

is there any vaseneck on the rig

cough i mean bottleneck cough\

if you are not sure

try bumping the CPU speed up to 4.2Ghz and see the difference using Unigine Heaven

the i5 4690K and MSI Z97 SLi Plus will be a match in heaven with your GTX970.

no point going for the FX8350 which is way outdated platform.

Ya, I know it's a bottleneck. I'll fix it eventually (I already have Mk. II in my parpicker list), but I don't have the funds now and it wasn't a priority.

Nice build. What games do you play?

Skyrim, Wasteland 2, TF2, Rome: Total War II, et al.

Excellent! how does R:TW II perform? I had noticed it was a largely single-threaded game for the main map, which was actually somewhat straining on my CPU at times.

If the CPU is too slow try upgrading to a 760k it's better

No, the 760K is NOT faster than the 860K. Are you some sort of troll?

No I am not. I just was looking at the specs and the 860k is not just cheaper, but it has a lower clock speed than the 760k.
