Description

Another year and the itch hasn't stopped.

Wanted to upgrade to get better airflow, but didn't want to spend too much as usual. Sold some parts including, my Asus Strix 1080ti, Phanteks Silver Evolv TG, many LL120 Fans, custom cables, H100i, Acer Predator X34, and a few other tidbits. Hunted around for many new and used parts and this is what I ended with. Always wanted the crazy rainbow sleeved cables to match my Dream 1080TI, Lightning Z but didn't think spending nearly $100 on them was practical, so decided to try custom sleeving myself this time around. With 3 little ones now, time was not readily available. I sleeved 30 minutes before bed a few nights while my wife would just continue to comment about how crazy I am, but I'm pretty happy with my results.

Enjoy the photos!

This is the best looking build I've seen that fully embraces the rainbow. Less unicorn barf, more unicorn hugs.
Also love the super beefy Lightning 1080Ti taking up so much space too.

This was my first Lian Li's case and I have to say, it was probably the easiest to work with. Everything was well thought out (even a hiding spot for my commander PRO). One thing I did love was 2 protective plastic on the front and rear of both glass!

that protector would be handy, especially since i DROPPED AND SHATTERED my fractal define mini c tg glass, i got a replacement, but i learned never to try taking the glass off unless the glass is facing up

It's so amazing, I really wish if MSI would update the lightning card.

Awesome build! Looks great. What are your CPU temps underload? Curious because you have 3 intakes and 5 exhausts. I've been wanting this case so bad but I'm torn because everyone claims the best temps are with the side fans as intakes, but aesthetically we all know the back of fans are not the greatest.

I haven't tested anything and I haven't installed the other 2 140 on the top for push pull for my rad. Once I finish making my full monochromatic custom cables will I test for fan direction. All I know is that it's way more airflow than my phanteks evolv tg =D

Just did some quick cpuz stress test for 15 minutes. With fans at max my cpu temps is at 55c with my fans at only a quiet fix 700 rpm, it's at 59-60. Hope this helps.

What fan controller did you use to connect all those RGB fans?

  • 1 point

They’re Corsair Fans so I used a Corsair commander pro and a node.

Wow that's so pretty! I have just build something with the same case and I'm looking at ideas! I was a bit worried about going with the black fans but yours doesn't look bad at all! Nice work!

Did you swap the ML140s for the LL140s in the H115i? I love the CPU cooler I just wish they had the option of LL fans instead of ML in the H115i.

Yes I swapped them out.

Nice, I'll be doing the same thing once the LL140 go on sale. Also, did you use the lighting node at all or did you just use the commander pro? I'm not sure what the difference is between the 2 and if you have to use both of them or not.

I had to use bot commander pro and node or it would be lots of nodes and fan controllers

looking to do a similar build, would you reccommened getting a 360mm liquid cooler for the top? And is there anything you would change different about your build (problems you may have came across)

Well i completely redid it sort of. I've upgraded to a 9900k and a z390 godlike. I would highly suggest custom cables. I'm waiting to make mines since I'm waiting for my vertical gpu mount. My lightning z is way too big and the wires press against the glass. Lots of rgb = lots of wires. Be sure to do all that wiring and test it if you can, prior to installing the rest. I didn't test my fans and 1 was faulty and I almost lost my mind since I had to redo all the cable management again! lol. Take your time, and have fun man!

I love this build, every bit of it! The colours pop out at you so well, really nicely done.

I'm looking for rainbow cable sleeves like you have here, I'm in the UK but cant find anything similar. Could you share where you got your rainbow colour sleeves?

Are you planning on making them yourself? I made them myself

  • 1 point

Oh for reals, you made the cable sleeves yourself? I'm even more impressed with this build! Hadn't considered making them myself, I thought you bought the sleeves. How do you go about making them? Parts used? I'd love to give this a go.

It's a long road pricey road. I made them because I couldn't find exactly what I wanted and getting a custom set would have cost over $200. If you're willing to learn, it's a really rewarding skill in my opinion. You'll need to get a nice chrimper, wires, sleeving, terminals, heatshrink, a nice set of cutters and lots of patients =D

Where did you get your materials for the custom sleeves? I've been looking into making my own cables but still need to buy all the tools to get started. Also, your build is absolutely fantastic and I love it so much. <3

Ebay for most of it. For connectors and other stuff mainframe. It's a lot of tedious work but it's completely worth it in the end! Good luck!
