Description

This is my first build so please be gentle. I built it to play games like LoL, Hots, StarCraft 2, Warcraft 3 TFT, Maplestory and some other not so graphic intensive games I come across. I was scared when I first started it but I did everything right except hook up a case fan wrong. It wouldn't boot to bios at first and made me install windows 10 right off the bat. So far I love everything about it it's a very quick pc. I also wanted it to be upgrade proof so I spent extra $ on the MB and PSU

Part Reviews

CPU

Very quick. I can't imagine what an i7 is like. I have no complaints so far. Got it for 110$ through newegg

Motherboard

Got a z97 so I won't need to upgrade my motherboard for a long, long time and I can get an i7 in the future with the option to overclock. I'm new at this but this is a awesome MB I think. It has a nice bios interface for a noob like me. Nothing wrong with it so far. Got it for only 73$ after rebate through newegg

Memory

I was very excited to get a 1600 MHz cas 8 latency ram for only 40$ through newegg (no rebate). It looks cool and has a nice looking heat spreader and it's crucial.. but it runs at 1333 MHz at 9-9-9-24. It doesn't bother me much but that's not what I was expecting. IDK how to get it to run at 1600 MHz :( I tried and it was unstable I think. I'll live with it for now

Storage

Amazing. I've dealt with slow crappy hard drives in the past and I'm just amazed at how quick this is. Boots to windows in like 8 seconds and I like messing around with Samsung Magician. Nothing special about the price 104$ through amazon

Video Card

Everyone is probably wondering why I went with this and not AMD 260x for 82$. Because this was only 50$! after rebate through newegg. This is the perfect starter card at this price and will be ready to upgrade to a gtx 970+ in the future. I love it runs cool and quiet with no problems and I like the Geforce experience app. I can play LoL all max settings 200+ fps. I'm gonna try out Hots next and other games

Case

Great case it's huge to me. Easily houses all my parts with a bunch of room left. I like the window and look. Only issue is ssd slot at bottom. You can't mount it laying down because the hard drive bays prevent you from plugging the cords into it. So I Mounted my ssd standing up only using 2 of the screw holes. Got it for only 31$ through newegg after rebate

Power Supply

Seems like a badass PSU to me but it's my first one. It's tier 2 fully modular gold rated 550w. Got it so I don't have to get a better PSU when I upgrade my CPU and GPU. 64$ through newegg after rebate

Optical Drive

Makes a cool "air decompressing" sound when I start up my comp. Never heard that from an optical drive. 16$ through newegg

Operating System

Windows 10. I like that we got the start menu back. 100$ through B&H

Case Fan

Quiet and seems to do the job. Got it as an intake fan. 5$ after rebate through newegg

Monitor

Got it for free from bro. 1920x1080 exactly what I wanted. 23". Checked online he paid 250$

Great budget build! Let us know if this runs HotS on max settings. +1

Thanks everyone. Downloaded Hots and played it for the first time last night it was fun. Not sure if it will max it's recommending high settings and there's ultra settings. Gonna find out tomorrow. Is it ok to test and max my card on games will it make it run hot?

The cool thing about i3's is how powerful they are getting. I remember back in the day I wouldn't even look twice at an early gen i3 computer. Now, check out the new Skylake i3-6320. The little devil trades blows with the i5-4690 (not K), at least on a spec sheet. It's too new for any English reviews to be out.

What kind of temps and acoustics do you get? I want to cram an i3 and gtx 950 into a slim case but am concerned about temps/noise.

you need to enable xmp profiles in the bios to run at the advertised speeds
