Description

So I am still working on this build. I decided that it was time for me to build a computer. I had never done it before and wanted to build something i felt was cool. So when I was deciding which case I wanted I came across this one. I wasn't sold until my 10 year old little brother and saw what case I was looking at and he decided for me that this had to be my case, specifically for that reset button. Haha since we finished building the computer he has used that button a couple of times and pretended to of launch a missile or something. Anyway I love this case it has seven fans going (not including the psu fan and the gpu fan) and it is very quite. I've ran 3DMark 11 and it didn't peep. Which reminds me yes i only have a gtx 650. I bought the 650 a while ago for another computer and decided to just use it till the 700 series comes out. Also i'll be getting a 1tb hardrive soon. I don't need it right now. You might be wondering why an i7 3770k well i got it for the same price as a i5 3750k. Love this keyboard, totally worth the money! Anyway tell me what you think!

P.S. thanks for reading the description I'm sure your questions where answered.

Looks good. Like the C70. Good cable management. Looks like good airflow with the extra fans. Nicely done.

I know this case is awesome but the mesh on the window just ruins it!

It isn't too bad but I've been thinking of replacing it.

Most people are saying the 700 series won't be coming until Q4 so you might be in for a long wait.

Yeah I hope there all totally wrong!!!

Just a suggestion, or an idea really now i think of it, prob wont work since you already have all the fan slots taken but since you arnt useing the HDD holder on the bottom set of the 2 you can remove it and have the fan blow directly into your case, also adds a little more room so it doesnt looked cramped. Thats purely cosmetic though, i do like the look of everything though. Do you plan on OCing the CPU since you have the cooler or you just sticking it out until the 700s come out?

Thanks for the suggestion. I thought about it too and I might do it later... As far as O.C. I honestly don't know I totally could but I would want to really read up on it before doing that. I think I'll wait.

I really like it :D Good job! Although you should have gotten black vengeance RAM to match your mobo :D

Haha there is a bit of a story behind that... I decided to keep it just cause the Vegas fans are mostly going to be blue.

Oh, that makes sense :D

That mobo is the sweetness. You gonna OC that i7? You could easily go above 4.5 with that cooler. Great cable management and solid fan arrangement. I agree with cohenj107 though about taking out some of those HD trays - will improve the air to your 650 (soon to be 700s).

Me and my brother are thinking of building two identical computers for ourselves, and since i am new to building, i would love if someone could take a quick glance at our build and tell me what i need or don't need. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JeZN

I don't think you need the sound card unless you have a decent sound system or something. I would also get 8 gigs of ram unless your video editing. How many led case fans are you putting in? I don't think you need to add anything. Look like a lot of fun!!!

Cut the RAM down to 8GB and forget the sound card. AMD is not my preference, but I think you'll get what you want out of this build. God speed, padawan.

Why did you go with an i7 3770k and a gtx 650, you would have gotten much higher peformance with even a 650 ti, or a 560? A 560 is about the same price.

I got the 650 a while back and I just used it for this build. I want to wait for the 700 series.

Ok, got you. i just didn't make sense to me. Please update with performance with the new card!

Picture #7 the front of the case I see you have the 2 fans blowing out air. I would flip them both. You don't appear to have any outside air coming in. Fronts facing fans should draw cooler outside air in which is more typical. Excuse my crude drawing of case air flow (below)

Haha well the picture sets the wrong impression. Because your totally right and that's exactly what i did. Haha I noticed that they were on backwards after we put them on. So I flipped them back.

blue RAM? with an olive-green motherboard?! Corsair has color-matching RAM that looks beautiful with Sabertooth motherboards... but i guess if you weren't too much into aesthetics this wouldn't be too bad of a deal (especially with the ridiculous discounts on Intel processors at MicroCenter).

that being said, nice setup, and very nice of you to include your little brother in the parts selection process :D

Can someone explain why people choose to purchase Windows 8 for PCs? I'm genuinely curious and don't understand.

It's supposedly a bit faster. I don't really think I'll be switching, but we'll see.

Do you use this build for gaming or no? If yes, how well do you run games and what is the highest demanding game you can run?

very nice. I wish i had a little brother. it is great that you guys could bond with this project. Check out my part list. I am only 50% complete, spent 1k already. let me know what you think.

"Why didn't you get 1x8 RAM stick?" I assume because Dual channel doesn't work with just one stick and you can't utilize it unless you have 2, which would be a waste of performance if you don't get 2 sticks.

he said he was waiting on the GTX700 series for the GPU.

and there's nothing wrong with 2x4GB sticks of RAM; in fact, it's probably faster than a single 8GB stick, and unless OP isn't not into RAM-intensive tasks (video editing, photo editing, etc) he probably won't even use more than 6GB if not 4.

it depends on what you use that RAM for. i have only 4GB on my system that i got 3 years ago, and even in a game like Crysis 2 the max total amount of RAM i use is closer to 3GB. since OP's system is a gaming system, even 8GB is fairly overkill; most people (like me) won't fully utilize all 8GB let alone 4GB, but it's nice to have a reasonable amount of excess.

the only reason you should have more than 8GB of RAM in a modern system is either A: for bragging rights, or B: a legitimate RAM-intensive task like video/photo editing or something like a Minecraft server.
