Description

This is my first computer build. One of the two monitors depicted was given to me by a friend. The processor was on sale and I knew it was reliable, so I bought it with no intention of overclocking, as the motherboard does not support it. For what I need, the cpu and gpu both exceed expectations.

I've been waiting months to have the money for this build. Once I finally got it together, she works beautifully. My first build and it's primarily for running games. The fan controller and lights really make it pop. I got the fan controller because I wanted to manage my cooling and system noise on the fly, and I wanted to ensure that it matched the aesthetics of the computer. Even put some sound activated cathodes in it and they work flawlessly. I love this and will be building more in the future.

Okay... I'm confused this is a gaming build... Yet you have only a 270 as the dedicated GPU. You spent the money on a fancy fan controller Win. 7 Ultimate (Why do you need that?) Also you have mobo I personally never heard of. You could get a 7200RPM drive for a little less. Also there is a a second monitor in the picture, but not here please address this. Also if your going to overclock I strongly recommend the Cooler Master Evo 212... It will run quieter and more powerful than the stock fan.

Agreed, why the Windows Ultimate? The 90 bucks could have gone toward a better GPU.

simple explanation for the mobo so the OP doesnt have to: it's cheap, downside is that he wants to overclock and has a mobo that doesn't support it. i agree with pretty much everything you said besides him needing to state where the second monitor came from, ever heard of pre-owned?

I prefer when people post it in the build but meh.

@Harleysmoke - what is wrong with the 270X? I've had this GPU for a while and it can play most games on ultra. Price and performance wise the 270X is better than many of it's competitors with similar pricing so I am unsure why you would make these types of comments without backing it up or offering advice to the builder.

Back to this build I see that it's not actually terrible.

He has a good processor, the graphics card is good.

He spent a little bit of money on the RAM but who cares? Plus he may have not gotten Ultimate (or he just downloaded it for free). Honestly if he wants a Fan Controller, all the power to him. If he wants the convenience, then let him have it!

The Hard Drive is not the best, but what if he got it for a good deal or it was an old one? It's also primarily for storage, so there's not any huge performance decreases. Plus, who cares if the mobo hasn't been heard of completely? If it works for him, then it works. I like seeing builds like these because these people are trying things out that others may haven't wanted to.

This build is good. Yeah, things have could been better spent in certain parts but it plays THE DANG GAMES.

I'm giving this a +1. You deserved it. If anybody wants to downvote because his hard drive doesn't pull up Birthday photos .2 seconds faster, then fine. Great first build.

I see what you mean about the mother board.. But he got an unlocked CPU on a locked board.

Maybe there was a great deal on the CPU. I've seen the K-series processors on sale for less than the non-K-series multiple times before.

You could have gotten a better computer for the price, try asking around on the forums there a loads of people that are more than willing to help out.

Great that you got it all together! You could a lil better with your part selection. No fear tho bro....make a htpc outta the parts you upgrade out of in the future.
