Description

My first PC. Built around January. I wanted to build a fast PC for 3d rendering, animation, video editing etc.... then Gaming.

I choose you because:

Processor: i7-4820k - It can support 40 PCI lanes for future graphics upgrades. Has more L3 cache. Overclocks great. Would be over clocking it even more later.

Cooler: Thermaltake Water2.0 Extreme: Really good cooler how ever i could not get the thermaltake fan control software to work on windows 8.1. Installing the radiator was the hard part. Couldn't mount the radiator inside the case as i was hitting the top motherboard. Couldn't mount the fan and radiator on top of the case because i cant put the top cover on.

Graphics card: 2xGTX 780's - I wanted fast GPU for rendering (Octane render, Cycles). Was waiting for AMD R9 290's but at the time the drivers was not working very well for GPU rendering. (though i think there have been some improvement's lately). Didn't go for Nvidia Quadro cards because for the price they suck at rendering and for my purpose gtx 780's can handle my view port just as well.

Motherboard: Gigabyte Ga-x79-up4 - A good motherboard. Got it real cheap and it has four PCIe slots. Had some crackling noise with sound. (update - cracking noise when cpu not over colocked.... strange!)

Memory: Mushkin Blackline - 32GB for video editing and i wanted to experiment with Ramdisks.

Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB - For all the Software. Seagatge 2TB: hybrid drive for all the games and other stuff because i think it will load fast instead of a regular drive. (i may be completely wrong here)

Case: NZXT Phantom 410 - Its looks great, with great cable management and ventilation.

Cas fans: Prolimatech PRO - runs quiet with the stock case fans.

Power Supply: Rosewill 1300W - I got a 1300W power supply for a bit future proofing as I may add a third graphics card and some other stuff in the future. It was also on sale and works great, However the cable management was a bit hard due to the round cables.

Optical Drive: Asus DRW - Never used a DVD or a blue-ray in years. Only used for installing windows. It works great though.

mouse: Rapoo 7800p lazer mouse - works great.

Future upgrades: led lights, sleeved cables, one more graphics card, a mechanical keyboard and perhaps custom liquid cooling.

Update 1 - Cm storm quickfire ultimate, Philips fidalio x1(got this cheaper than Philips fidalio m1), Cross over 28" monitor

Great build but dont you think it would have been worth upgrading to a Phantom 530 for more space and that larger side panel window ? Great build plenty of power

I actually thought Phantom 410 would be bigger than necessary. But you're right Phantom 530 would have been perfect.

if you want to fit the cpu cooler up top, put the rad on the inside of the case and the fans under the top cover. That should work, assuming you have the long screws?

Tried it, but water 2.0 has thick radiator and it bumps against the motherboard top heatsink.

Nice build! 2 gtx 780, wow, that is quite impressive. And finally someone who uses an water cooler other than corsair! You get my +1!
