Description

Hello PcPartPicker , I have been using this site and have been a memeber of this site for a long time now. The community here is amazing plus people have amazing builds to show which really keeps me attached to this site.

This is not my first PC , My previous build was : Intel e7500 Core2Duo @ 2.93 GHz , 4GB DDR2 , VIP 600W , ATI HD 4890. This i had purchased back in Dec.2009 , this really really lasted me a long time , and it still works !

But today's games dont support such old hardware , so yes i had to upgrade. It took me a couple of months to decide and to finalize the products , but it was worth the wait.

Okay lets jump ahead now. Let me give you some details , Some commonly asked questions:

What purpose is this build for : Gaming (Mostly) , Browsing Internet , Videos , Music.

Where do i took it from : Pune , Maharashtra , India.

Which place i took the parts from : http://www.havoknation.in/

Prices : Prices have not been put in terms of our nation's currency , it has rather been converted to American Dollars. Prices have been used as it was accordingly on that day , generally our currency value was 1$=60.22 INR. And the same has been used to put up prices here.

Theme of the build : Tried to stick with the Black and Red Theme.

Rationale behind the build and the parts :

1) Cpu : i took an i5 4670k , its a decent overclock-able Quad Core processor , i have not overclocked it still , but surely do it in the coming months. More than enough for gaming at least for a couple of years.

2)CPU Cooler : Initially i didnt wanted to... but after reading a lot about it , i finally decided i took a AIO Liquid Cooler , no doubt the Kraken X60 from NZXT was amazing , but previously i wanted to go with the Corsair H100i , but i never heard good reviews about it from the person i took it from. This is a debatable topic though , but Kraken X60 performs better or somewhat more than that of an H100i.

3)Motherboard : Pretty damn cool motherboard from MSI its the Z87 G43 Gaming , though its stil more of an upper-entry level board , but it has all the features for OC , has 8 phase power design and also all that necessary gaming related features you want on your mobo , pretty much a good value package. P.S : It looks amazing

4)RAM : Heard a lot about Corsair vengeance , had it in my mind since the beginning , just jumped on and took the vengeance Pro , it looks amazing. Set it to Intel XMP Profile from the BIOS , it runs at 1600 MHz.

5)PSU : Went with the Seasonic S12ii 620W 80 Plus Bronze , more than enough i could ask for a system of mine. It runs silent , Cant even hear the fan spinning. Also i have no plans to go with Xfire and add another gfx card.Dont have it in my mind now. so this much power is enough.

6)Case : Phantom was on my mind right from the beginning , was even impressed by the Obsidian 750D a lot , but eventually it was more costly in my country and also Phantom 530 comes loaded with features like Extra Dust FIlters for bottom mount PSU , a fan controller , LED at the back , an extra FAN for HDD bays , and also an integrated fan HUB for almost 9 fans , i eventually fell down for the Phantom , and yes it was really worth it !

7) GFX Card : i took a R9 270x , a Pretty decent card , it plays most of the games on Very High / Ultra , Crysis 3 i was able to play on VERY HIGH and get decent Frames per Sec. Batman AO was also set to ultra settings. cant ask for much , plus i can overclock it further. Should server me well for a couple of years.

The guy from whom i took was a humble fellow and he gave me NZXT SLeeved LED Kit 1 metre lights and NZXT Fan 200mm fan and also a Sunbeam laser light for free !

Now what i have from my previous build is a lot of things to start with : 1) HDD 500GB SATA 2 (Yes i m taking a SATA 3 HDD in the coming months) 2) DVD R/W LG - pretty much does the job 3) Creative SBS A235 2.1 Speakers 4) Razer Deathadder 3.5G Mouse 5) Razer Golaithus Fragged Alpha mousepad 6) Cisco Wireless Router Linksys E900-N300 Router. 7) Monitor : LG W2243T 1080p LCD Monitor (Yes its from my previous build , i'll upgrade sooner.) 8) Headphone : Sony MDR ZX100 - White 9) Controller : Microsoft XBOX 360 Controller for PC All these are either included as Custom parts or are not put in "Purchased" list , basically i want to show you guys everything i have.

Pictures were taken from my Mobile Phone : Sony Xperia Ion 12Mp Camera.

Sooner to upgrade : the 2 things i mentioned above plus i'll take some lights , a couple of fans as Phantom still has 4 good places left for me to mount the fans , Also a APC UPS.

Had no problems in booting this build up , it started on the first boot , only the fans didnt start up , but i had forgot to plug in the molex connection for the fans, and the fan hub.

One most important thing , very IMPORTANT : i really want to know what you guys use for cleaning the transparent side panels , i used raw cotton and water and some cleaner , but rather than cleaning the plastic side panel it got stained with wipe marks that too cotton wipe marks. I really need to know from you guys what do you folks use for cleaning , the transparent side panels. Thanks, That's all Folks !

Constructive criticism is welcome , upvote if you like the build , comment if you have suggestions or wanna say something about the build , it would really feel good to me.

Thanks for going through my build.

Thanks a lot brother , means a lot to me. Yes part choice was apparently good , they all just come together really well. Also there are so many pictures because people here at PCP love MOAR pictures , yes i still tried to reduce as much as i could , i remeber i had gone to 200 pictures .. i cut it down to 50-60 ..many were redundant though.

Do you think that the r9 270x is worth the extra money compared to the r9 270? I am considering buying the r9 270 but i was wondering whether to spend the extra cash for the 270x. Have you used the r9 270 before and could you compare them?

You can find multiple review sites online , both have the same stream processors , both have almost the same performance , there is some difference though you can find everything here : http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2458/radeon-r9-270.html http://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2466/radeon-r9-270x.html

for me personally yes it is spending that extra cash because for future purposes it has more headroom for overclocking.

Let me start of by saying that, you have come up with a Cool name: "Phantom Rage". I like the build and what you have done with it. How you have utilized every dime and maintained the red and black theme. A big thumbs up. Its a perfect build for budget Gamers. Thanks for uploading your build.

Love the build, only thing is that dual channel mobo's prefer two sticks of ram. Besides that, great build. +1

Thanks a ton , yeah i could put 2 sticks of 4 gb which i dearly wanted to. But the guy who ordered these parts for me , as this was not available directly in my country , he ordered a kit of 16GB (2x8GB)[2 x 4gb as not available] but honestly it was over budget for me to take 16Gbs , also i dont do much but i just do gaming ! And for that 8Gb extra stick is not necessary and i would had to pay him 6500 rs extra then (roughly 105$) and if instead of doing that then i would had taken a R9 280x , seriously ! But again as i said i didnt have money at all to do that ! Also he instead told me , that double data flow rate doesnt help at all in gaming , it helps in other memeory intensive apps , which i will never work with this build. Thanks for checking my build , btw i see you make amazing builds too :)

Sure dude , the community here is so damn positive and warm ! M updating the phantom with new lights , 4 fans i will take , from fans i just remmeber i had to ask you , what do you recommend ? All 4 fans will be intake i shortlisted some of them 1)Corsair AF 140mm/120mm LED 2) Bitfenix SPectre Pro 120mm/140mm 3) Noctua are amazing but look so BAD and dull (my opinion) ! For lights i was thinking of using the NZXT Hue , only problem is its too costly , in that cost i get 3 fans , thats a problem ! So lights would be last. See if you can suggest me something , as fans i would take as early as next month or in the coming days.

Million thanks bro , for checking out my build , feels good to hear it from you guys here at PCP , yes i kinda care about what i build , because if i try to cheap out on something or somewhere that would end up affecting the whole system ,so i need to take responsibility to do something right, also i have helped a couple of guys in building their own gaming rigs ,so kinda have that experience , plus i have been reading a lot about computers and hardware from say at least 6-8 years , so i never end up doing something wrong(i feel so). About side panel cleaning , my god i have been searching the internet like crazy , Some of the weird solutions i actually got: transparent paint, plastic polisher, cutting and fitting a new plastic panel. But something i could settle upon was a decent microfiber cloth and an antec cleaner. That's my last bet on cleaning that side panel , and i hope it turns out good , i'm purchasing it right away. Thanks a lot for cheacking my build and commeting on it , feels good. Also i see 5 builds submitted by you , thats nice now :)

Yes NZXT is very competitive with regards to price for performance and features. The case i was more looking into was the Obsidian 750D. I still love that case so much , but after comparing these two , yes i am happy i could settle for NZXT ,i'll tell you what made me do so , minute details are there but noticeable. 1) Dedicated fan hub for supporting 9 fans. 2) Rubber heights on which the PSU rests (Shame corsair didnt had that) , also they missed out on the bottom dust filter i feel so. 3) Fan controller which really does the job , and is connected to the fan hub. 4) Led lights at the back for working in the night , or when u cant see them , in my previous machine i typically used to have problems as i never could see it , plus it looks cool. 5) Side panel fan mount for hard drive cooling (Even your hard drive requires cooling) 6) pivotal fan(120/140 mm) which points it directly to the GPU fan mounts (140mm/120mm) which can be adjusted easily for providing that burst of airflow directed towards your GPU.

Now these all things are not there in Corsair obsidian 750D , Plus the huge price difference , this case was 9000 Rs + Extra NZXT 200mm fan i got free with this :D , and 750D was 12000 Rs - difference is 3K Rs that is roughly 50 US Dollars. So my choice was then obvious , i just fell for the Phantom ;) Also about parts availability , no i had just got to wait for a couple of days as everything is ordered online and it took 2-3 Days for the person to order it for me. I am from India btw , just like i described , and believe me India is ******' horrible when it comes to prices of these products and the taxation system of our country , we need to pay a **** ton more than people in the other countries , that makes me feel sad. I had to pay the extra premium , and thats evident from prices i have put , Still my city is one of the best to live in this country , its one of the top 10 cities , and so yeah didnt have much problems. What i am more worrid about should be athe after sales support and RMA on any of these products. Thanks !

Thanks , i'm more into RPG games (isometric and third person) but not team based like Divinity , Dragon age and all that. Games i usually play or rather love to is - Skyrim (my favorite) , torchlight , diablo , van helsing (currently playing). I love single player third person exploration games (AC2 was the best). Other than those what i usually end up playing is FPS shooter games (Crysis is lovely) and puzzle solving games which really make you think - Quantum conundrum , portal 2. (2 best puzzle solving games , now waiting for -"The witness") Still apart from these too , i play third person stlealth games - splinter cell , dishonored , GRFS , Thief (yet to play). Also i love 2 d games - deadlight , mark of the ninja (so good) , Shank. So yeah you can say i particularly play evry game of every genre , i am not at all into MOBA/MMORPG games at all , i'm happy with story based single player games , though MP is always enticing than SP :)
