Description

I was given a older motherboard by a friend who was upgrading to a RYZEN system. To my surprise, it had a AMD FX 8320 processor and a cooler minus the fan installed in it. I am not an AMD guy, so I wasn't to excited. A friend of mine who recently built his gaming rig was trying to get his cousin into gaming. So we decided to build him one with what ever parts we had left.

I just recently upgraded my HTPC to an EVGA 1070 and had the 1060 just sitting around. I knew if I held on to it, I would want to build another computer, so I decided to donate it along with the motherboard and processor. I had a hard drive that was not in use, so I gave that up also. I bought the case at a garage sale from a guy who upgraded to a S340 elite for $30.00.

My friend ended up purchasing the memory, SSD and PSU. I threw in a couple of case fans and some $18.00 remote rgb light kit. Used some sleeved cables I made for another build but didn't use.

I normally build in mini itx cases, so building in this thing was like a dream. cable management is a dream come true in this thing. Even though it was a budget build, I wanted it to look somewhat cool for the kid. Alot of empty space, so I made a custom plate to cover the front panel wire and fill in the gap of the micro atx board. I also made a gpu backplate and matched the ssd. Over all, it was a fun build. This case is awesome. One thing for sure though, I will never use a non modular PSU again! Almost defeats the purpose of cable management. Hope ol boy likes it. If not, I will keep it!

I need more friends, a lot more. Enough so I find one they will throw at me a board with an FX 8 core and a massive heatsink.

that white case looked like a mini fridge in the first pic of it.

Always great to hear of donated parts for the sake of a fellow friend. Great looking build. I still have my main rig in an S340 and yeah, they're amazing to build in. Really builder friendly.

LOL @ "I knew if I held on to it, I would want to build another computer..." It's a sickness.
