Description

11/30/2016 - Built a new Skylake machine that replaced my Haswell machine.

12/22/2015 - Moved into a new house. Friend donated a desk. Life is pretty good.

8/14/2015 - Replaced the old monitors with the ACER K27HUL monitors

1/22/2015 - The last two pictures show the new ROG Swift monitor.

My gaming machine.

Monitors of uneven sizes and resolutions. That's because I took monitors meant for another machine and put them together. I just want the real estate.

I feel like there is a lot of overkill in terms of price/performance, and i think you could have done a better job spreading out the money to get better brands or models on some of the parts

How so? Do suggest.

You could have saved some money by getting a 2600k, get a cheaper motherboard like a gigabyte ud3h, get a 7970 ghz edition (generally performs better than a 680 for a bit cheaper).

You could then use that saved money to get a better power supply so you could upgrade to a second graphics card, and maybe get a better ssd like a crucial m4 or ocz vertex 4.

Since you have already built your pc, this will probably be of no use to you, but it's just something to think about in case you build again in the future.

Thanks a lot. That is good to know. I am not looking to upgrade anytime in the next 3 years! Who knows what things are going to be like then. I will definitely remember to be extra careful and do a lot more research when its time for my next upgrade.

Why get a Z77 mobo and a 680 but no Ivy Bridge?

I made a dumb decision. I am not terribly unhappy about it. The machine works great. I was just impatient.

i5 3570k I.B. would look a lot nicer than a 2700k S.B.

Wish I had the cash to buy another 24" to put vertical like that.

the 24" monitor I have is a 1920x1200 monitor. Those seem to be really rare and expensive these days. I was lucky to have purchased it when they were cheap for some reason.
