Description

FINALLY! It's my custom build after my old desktop which is 7 years old now. I left my Desktop back home in the Philippines when we migrated in New Zealand. I was dreaming of building this Desktop for several years. After saving, I have it all now (well not all =/ ), because I don't want to spend all my savings (personal reasons) at the moment so I had a bit of a tight budget from 4k to 3k NZD. Yes! Hardware parts here in NZ cost higher so can't really get an overkill with 3k NZD.

CPU: I was planning to change it to i5 4690k bcos I was trying to make the cost lower but decided to go for i7 which is really my first plan and thinking that It will be useful when I started studying Adobe, Autocad 3D, etc in the future.

MoBo: I'm choosing between Asus Z97-A and Asrock Xtreme4 but because of my planned fan setup, I chose Asus. (ports and fan software and maybe reliability?). Can't really buy fan controllers and I think I don't like controlling fans that way.

VCard: I really want the EVGA 980 but also because of the budget, can't get it sadly. I also tried to change almost everything to a much cheaper hardwares just to get 980 but still can't reach it (before, I was waiting for GTX 880 XD) Well, 970 is still a beast so I'm happy with it except for it's coil whine. I sent it back and they gave me a new one, and it still has coil whine. Ah! I'll just live with it lol.

PSU: I really want to get the Seasonic G550 but every stores here are out of stock so 2nd choice is this.

Case: The Case I've been waiting for since CES 14 :D (previously planning to get Cooler Master Cosmos SE)

SSD: 250/256 Pro or Evo? who's cheaper? EVO! XD

Cooler: argh! h100i :( well,, not overclocking that much for now so I think this will do :)

RAM: 8Gigs for now and want these blue colored corsairs. I'll just add 8GB more in the future.

Keyboard: K70! but costly! oops, a wild G910 suddenly appeared! yay! much cheaper. :D

Mouse: Already owned Logitech G600, started to double click sometimes. was using this before playing Aion. I quitted so I'll just buy G502 soon.

Case fans: I really had a hard time deciding which fan to get while also considering the colors/appearance for my build theme. Read too many forums and tons of reviews and only made me more and more confused. Too complicated, overloading brain and saturated LOL. end up with SP120 PWM for h80i and two AF140 QE at top. Also bought one white Jetflo for the bottom. Really hard to decide about the fan noise if you are just watching them on youtube or just reading the specs and comparisons on the internet. Much better to test them by yourself. I found out that at 1.2k RPM, jetflo is noisier than a stock AF140 at the front.

Monitor: Yea! reviews reviews reviews, tons of review reading. On my budget this is the best. I want Asus Swift, ill just save again and buy a new one after a few months. I'll go for 27'' with Gsync, 144hz or IPS with low ms or 4k or which ever is the best when I'm ready to buy (for FPS games)

So that's it. I hope In the future I'll be able to buy the exact hardwares that I want. I really like my desktop right now and even though I did not buy I want, I'm very happy with it. I'm currently playing Battlefield 3 and 4 right now. I'll also start to play those games that I missed playing/finishing for the past few years because of lack of hardware power. (I always want to play my games on highest settings XD) So this is my build, I hope you like it too =p

Happy building! Cheers~

Try Stenciling. Look up the "Project Trinity" completed build. That guy did stencil in two colors (blue & silver), and it looks pretty cool.

Why did u rate that monitor 4 stars ?

oh Hi! I'm not really sure, but based on price ranged compared to other monitors available here, I think it's 4 stars between them. Color, viewing angles etc. but it doesn't have other mounting option which I'm not really doing right now so doesnt matter to me. so yeah that's why :D

Thinking of getting the G910 Orion Spark, but I've heard the keycaps feel really weird since they're larger and sharply angled, as opposed to softly. Did it take some getting used to? If so, how long? Thanks, and awesome build! Blue builds are always great. If your GTX 970 ever dies, check out the R9 290 Vapor-X from Sapphire. The card is just the most gorgeous shade of blue, and has one of the sexiest backplates I've ever seen, plus you get three free games with it. Game on, friend!

Im also doubtful even after watching linus video from youtube about those key cap sharp angles but I still bought it and I can say that I don't notice the difference on them or doesnt bother me at all. The new key caps are really great and for me kinda like between browns from G710+ (which If I'm not mistaken abit diff from other browns) and cherry greens. The only thing I noticed from it is sometimes when playing FPS games and walking/running in game, it continuously walk/run (kinda like one of the key for A/S/D/W were still pressed) unless I press it again. Not sure if its the keyboard or something, still busy atm from work so I havnt look about it yet. :)

I played Aion too. My Logitech g600 started double clicking too. Haha. Do you not recommend the jetflow? Planning on throwing 8 of them in a Enthoo Pro case and turn them on low rpm's for great constant airflow and to light the apartment solely on red LEDs. Really don't want it to sound like an industrial fan, though.

B4 I bought it, I read many reviews saying they r loud and some also said its the air turbulance and I say yea its the air. Jetflo's r really moving massive volume of air compared to my 2x AF14 at front. Im running it right now @1.2k and for me its not loud, I don't even noticing it when playing or using my pc. :)

what do u think of this monitor input lag? i mean while playing BF or COD when u move the mouse DOES the screen move at the same time?
