This rig is definitely overkill since I use it for mainly for gaming, but I built it as an upgrade (So I could give my old rig to my brother) and maybe video editing down the road.
CPU - It was a step up from my old i7-3770k. It was used from my friend and since he was willing to sell it to me for cheap.
Cooler - Recycled from previous build.
MOBO - Cheap X79 I picked up during the time I needed it. I gave it 4 stars because of the placement for the USB 3.0 header. I couldn't set up the cards spaced out even more to use a Nvidia 3-way SLI bridge to match the green logo. But overall, the motherboard is great. Works fine.
RAM - Cheap from Newegg.com during Black Friday.
Storage - Purchased used from my friend, SSDS are set in RAID0 and HDDS are set in RAID1.
GPUs - They are actually NVIDIA's GTX 780Ti, but I couldn't find it on the part list. Purchased together to get a cheaper price, and since I ran 2-way SLI for my GTX 670 FTWs, I wanted another build with 2-way SLI.
Case - Purchased from friend again, since he had one sitting around at the time.
PSU - Purchased used from my friend, yet again.... since it was sitting around.
OS - Recycled from previous build.
