Description

Updated to reflect new custom loop. Sorry for the crap new picture.

NEW PARTS.

CPU Block- EK Supremacy

GPU Block and Back Plate- EK 970 Strix

Pump-Res- EK Xres 140 D5 pwm

Fitting- all black nickel EK, except one Bitspower T because I hate the way EK's Ts look

Front Rad- Black Ice Nemesis GTS 280 Xflow

Back Rad - Magicool G2 120 slim Xflow

PETG Hardlines

Mayhems X1 Coolent- Blood Red

I had to drill 6 new holes to get the front rad to mount, not much of a big deal tho. I made a mounting bracket for the pump to mount to the rad as well. I got rid of the cougar 140 up top and cougar 120 in the back for two Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM traded out all the old brown corners for the red.

CPU-I7 4790k overclocked to 4.7GHz. Runs great stays cool at around 24 idle and 60-61 under 100% load overclocked at 4.7ghz.

Motherboard- Asus Maximus VII Hero. I went with the Asus board for the feature and I have an Asus tablet that I really liked it. I had an issue with the tablet and their custom service was great.

RAM- Hyper X Savage 16GB total. Overclocked very easily and have had no issues so far got them really cheap and they matched the red and black theme I was going for.

SSDs - x2 Samsung 850 EVO 250GB. Running them in RAID 0 for OS and games boot time is extremely fast.

HHD- WD Caviar Blue 1TB. Mainly backup and media storage.

GPU- Asus GTX 970 STRIX idles at 24. Under load is runs around 47 which is only 12 higher than what it use to idle at.

Case- NZXT S340 Black. I got the NZXT S340 black because I really like how finished builds look in it. I however don't like shiny black cases so I painted it more of a gunmetal color. I also painted the wire management bar red and the NZXT logo black to match the overall inside theme. It's a solid case and I have no regrets getting it.

Power Supply- EVGA 850W Got the EVGA 850W cheaper than the 750w at the time I made the purchase I know it is way overkill but it gives me room for adding on later.

OS- Windows 10 is so much better than the windows 8 I started with.

Wire Extension- Red and black from cables4pc.co.uk. The red and black sleeves gave that extra bit of red I wanted in the build.

Excellent build! I can really tell you spent some time managing cables and putting this post together. Great work OP!

Just so you know, the s340 case now comes in red and blue. I know for a fact the glossy cable bar inside come in both options. Could have saved on paint.

At the time I bought the case I did not know the new color edition was coming out and when I did find out about it, it was not available yet. Plus the case was on sale for 50 dollars at my local Microcenter, paint was $3 it would have saved time, but I paint a lot anyway so it wasn't that big a deal. I am sad that its not that original sense NZXT now offers it in red.

The "issue" with the 970 isn't that it wont use more than 3.5GB, it will use all 4GB its just that last .5GB of vram is clocked at a lower speed. Unless your running 2 of these to power a 4K screen I don't think that this will cause you any performance drops. EDIT: (some game engines wont register this slower .5GB portion). I hope this clears up why you see the card using more than 3.5GB.

Also I really love the aesthetics of this build +1!

Great job on the awesthetics, color coordination and cable management is on point! Love how you painted the Noctua/Cougar fans to match the build, what kind of paint did you use??

I used folkart brand acrylic and a small brush from an art store it will scrach right off if you are not careful but sense its on a non moving part and nothing rubs it I did'nt think it would hurt. I did the same to the noctua fans as well. You have to put them back on as soon as the paint is dry enough to touch or it will crack as soon as you try.

Really nice build! That Firestrike score is amazing! Highest i have achieved is 9188 with my 970 + 8350 combo, though I have not overclocked the CPU yet. Check out my Black+Blue S340, http://pcpartpicker.com/b/xKLD4D. +1 Great work!
