Description

Build this server for my laboratory, it's intended to be a Ubuntu server with multiple users, so threadripper is definitely chosen. At first I chose the wrong coolor for the CPU which is the Corsair H105 (1st gen.) and it doesn't support TR4 socket. After I changed it to the better-looked X52.

The motherboard is chosen with the most PCI-E slots for GPUs. Currently I only bought 2 GPUs for the server, but could have more in future. One problem with the GPU is that the Asus Dual 2080Ti takes the space of 3 case slots of the back panel (while the metal frame only takes 2 actually). So if more GPUs are added in the future, water cool solution may be essential.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Beautiful cooler and support TR4 well. However there are a USB connector for the cooler which is unexpected, I don't have a socket for this connector. And the connection of the socket is also not firm.

Motherboard

The board is definitely amazing, with rich features and 4 full space PCI-e x16 slots. A tiny flaw is that the little screen in the motherboard is sometimes not displaying correctly. The text in the screen can be messed up

Seems pretty tight for what you are using it for, but I am guessing you bought this FULL ATX for its modular shape. But if not there are better cases that would give you all the space you need even in the Mid Tower range ex. Cooler Master -Master Case series. Iam partial to MasterCase MC500Mt which is what Iam currently using. However this is still a solid build. Check mine out if you have time.

Thanks for your suggestions! Your case look cool indeed, but one important reason I chose this case is that it has enough back slots for the GPUs (4GPUs take 8 slots), and this case is one the the only cases in the market that meets this demand.

Since its for the lab, I tried to use non-RGB parts, but at the end the cooler and the backlit in the motherboard looks really nice even they are not shiny

Why not get a bigger case and GPUs with smaller heatsinks? Blower styles would have been great.

Amazing hardware.

Thanks! When I pick the GPUs I didn't noticed that they are so thick. I would use blower GPU if I knew they gonna take so much space.
