Description

Gaming / internet browsing / photo editing machine. Does everything I want it to without a single hiccup! I love this thing.

I kinda wish I could watercool my cards, but they're non-reference. Such a bummer...

The fans on the radiator are in a push / pull configuration: pushing hot air from the inside of the case, through the radiator, and outside the case. Those cards get HOT. I might have to clock them down a bit.

I also did not pay 3K for this machine. One of my video cards were free, the 3770K I got for $120, the keyboard, mouse, and monitor were discounted heavily, and the speakers were some I had with my previous build. So, in reality I probably paid circa half, or less than half, of the price that is advertised on here.

The CPU temps were obtained using Prime95 @ priority 10 for 24 hours. Realistically, the temps reach about 65C while gaming and working in Photoshop.

Oh, and the name is inspired by Rei's Evangelion Unit from Neon Genesis Evangelion. A+ anime, you should watch it.

Koolance makes waterblocks for your 7970s - they're reference PCB with non reference cooler.

That's Rei's unit! The colors match too. This build is excellent. Will there be a Eva-01 and Eva-02? 8D

If only I had the money I would TOTALLY build it! The next build I want to do is a SFF so I can lug it around and play video games at my friends house(s). I might do Asuka's unit next :D

Thanks for the comment!!

Thank you very much! And not yet! I can't decide if I want to get a couple more IPS monitors OR just go for a singel 1440P monitor. I have to get the money first!

Awesome build. The SP120's make the radiator really stick out...I like that. Enjoy your build.

+1 Solely because of NGE. However, I did not remember for this particular EVA (perhaps it means that it is time to watch the series again! haha). Creative name pick and colour theme. What games do you play?

For photo editing I would've recommended two NVIDIA cards as the CUDA cores help but this is still great. I was going to go with the 7970s originally, how are the drivers and how do they perform ?

It's very light photo editing. I'm not pulling anything in RAW format and stuff. Just touching up some photos, making gifs, etc.

The drivers are great, so far! I just finished Bioshock Infinite and damn, it handled that game like a beast. No microstutter, frame dips, nothing!

I just have THE MOST microstutter problems in Far Cry 3. It's expected, though. It's unplayable for me... I also have issues with Assassin's Creed 3, but I'm guessing that's a universal thing. The games aren't very optimized for PC yet.
