Alright well this rig started out as a super cheap gaming pc. I was going to go with the fx 6300 then the fx 8350 then i decided on the middle with the fx 8320 and no intel was not an option i even considered. They are good but the price is to rich for my blood and i can do everything an intel can for cheaper.
All i know about the keyboard is its windows 98. So old as balls lol
I just changed my Motherboard out from the Asrock 970 Extreme3 to the MSI 970 Gaming Edition because of its 8x8 setup for when i crossfire in a couple weeks and because its built for overclocking. So far no problems with the board. It looks really really nice and everything sits nice on it. It was cheap. only $10 more than my other one and for more performance.
I just upgraded from the stock CPU Cooler to the Corsair H100i and let me tell you. it works great. It is a little bit loud at times but that doesnt bother me since my Rig is in my room and i use headphones so i can never hear it anyway. But at idle i was at 31.0 c and with this CPU Cooler when not Overclocked im at 16.0c....( thats 60 degrees Farenheit. Thats cooler than my own room is now) huuuuge jump down in temps and Overclocked to 4.3GHz im at idle on 18.0c so i have dropped 15.0c just in idle. Under load i was at around 44.0 c but now im at 22.0 c so thats a 20 degree difference. Now i overclocked to 4.3Ghz very quickly and on stock voltages but im having a hard time getting it to 4.4 for some reason. I either blue screen or it just freezes up on me. Mind you im not very good at this and im literally just starting out. Any Ideas? im kinda stuck. But either way its overlocked and works great so far.
Changed the RAM out for the G. Skill X Series because of the color for my mobo and rig. I take a slight hit on the Mhz but thats fine with me.
The HD i got for $60 when there was a deal and its still 1TB so thats plenty nice but im going to b3 buying 3TB more pretty soon here for my movies and music and whatnot. Bought the Western Digital WD Green 1TB for $50 and they sent me the 2TB version :) works great and no problems.
The Video Card....Shes a Real Beauty. Performs like a Champ. I dont have all the crazy games out there but nothing i play gets less than 60 FPS. Many good games play at 120+ FPS. Shadow of Morfor on Ultra Everything stays at 55-60 FPS unless im in a very large battle then iv seen it drop to no lower than 45 FPS. Very Soon here im buying another one so i can Crossfire them so im pretty excited about that. Highly recommend this thing if you can afford it and Overheating? no such thing. Stays at very cool temp even under load.
My first case was the Raidmax 402 wb and it was...small. Atleast for my parts. My card barely fit in it and cable managment was pretty bad also. Then i decided i wanted max airflow and to buy another Tri-x so i did some looking around and i came across this. Got it for $99 on amazon and i couldnt be happier. Its a cooling machine. Comes with three pre-installed fans and its never put out an ounce of hot air. Almost cool air. No lie. i love it.. Cable management is super easy and even the PSU hides on the other side so its out of the way. Its also a no tools case. All the parts just snap and slide in so its Great. Besides screwing in extra fans or the MOBO that is.
Im trying to figure out a name for my rig and i think imma go with The Hive and since my buddy is building the exact same pc as me. I already have the spray paint and im going to take the faceplate off and the top cover and spray paint them Yellow for a little custom work. Ill update everyone when its all done
I got the PSU because it was a good deal at the time but im having to upgrade to support my new GPU, case lights i want to install, another Hard Drive and my CPU Cooler when i decide on one that i want and so far its a no go.
The Optical Drive. Well it was $15. Nuff Said. Overall i couldnt be happier with this Rig and im going to post more pics as i upgrade it to track the progress along with benchmark scores when my new GPU arrives.
Headset is the Turtle Beach EarForce Z11. Got it for $50 from walmart and they are great. Bass is good and sound is clear and they are decently loud.
I ran a few small and not to in depth tests on a few games here as a request. I play all my games on 1920x1080p ultra setting unless otherwise noted.
Borderlands 2- 60 constant FPS cap. anisotropic filtering x4
Blades Of Time- 115-120 FPS
Gas Guzzlers Extreme- 60 FPS constant max cap
Grid 2- 60 FPS constant Max cap
Arma 3- I only play online and mostly dayz mod servers and the FPS seems to be different per server. One server gave me 9 Max FPS which was only a one time thing but otherwise i never see dips below 30 FPS no matter the setting and im rarely below 45 FPS, mainly between 50-60 FPS on large servers. I talked to a guy that had an Intel Core i7 4770k with dual GTX 970 GPU's and he was getting the same frames as i was.
The Forest- 40-50. Just turn down the anisotropic filtering and you wont see any problems at all. Mind you the game still is not finished so optimization is still due.
Project Cars. i did not get the FPS of the game but on ultra settings, everything maxxed out it seemed to run beautifully. ill do a real test soon if requested.
MineCraft- Max settings and 32 blocks i get 60+FPS while when i turn off vsync which really isnt needed i get upwards 86-100 FPS depending whats loading but if i turn down to 16 blocks which doesnt make any difference i get 105-160 FPS depending on how many blocks are still loading but no matter what its just butter smooth.
I own 160+ games and i continue to buy more games so if requested i can do a real test soon on more.
