Description

Upgraded my previous build with 3xROG Swifts and 2x980Tis.

Part Reviews

CPU

Great processor and great overclocker. 4.5Ghz and XMP 2400Mhz DDR4 on 1.299908V.

CPU Cooler

Phenomenal performance for an AIO, at 4.5Ghz on all 6 cores for multiple days with power management allowing all 6 to run max speed non-stop, the Kraken X61 kept idle temps in the 40s C and max temp under stress testing at 80C.

Motherboard

Has issues, USB ports not working once in a while, took a few bios updates to get this thing to stop hanging on boots.

Nice build, I wish I could afford to build something like this XD

RDC123 4 points 39 months ago

The question is...... Can it run Crysis at max settings?

bohemond1980 submitter 14 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Crysis 3 at 7680x1440p is a challenge. Definitely not hitting 144Hz.

RDC123 1 point 39 months ago

By 144 hz do you mean 144000 fps

ibu2awesome 1 point 36 months ago

100 fps?

Glistening 1 Build 4 points 39 months ago

Time to get those minesweeper benchmarks for us :]

Vergere 7 Builds 3 points 39 months ago

gotta be in that 1%~!

bohemond1980 submitter 14 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

I think that's reserved for 4 way SLI, triple 4K kinda people.

ibu2awesome 1 point 36 months ago

That's me!!! sadly my completed build isn't uploaded.

Recently there seems to be a rise in popularity of the ROG swift but that's kinda sad because it's tn and they're releasing new ones :/

bohemond1980 submitter 14 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

Yeah, the colors could be better, but overall they are nice enough. I was worried about QC, but all 3 have been great.

intel2012 4 Builds 3 points 39 months ago

that is a great build, but i have a question. What do you do for a job to afford a computer that costs 5,000 dollars. if you are that loaded, can you pay off my tuition loans, and get my car new brakes? haha

bohemond1980 submitter 14 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Well, it's the kind of job where you are away a lot in third world countries, so catch-22.

A&W is crap root beer (High Fructose Corn Syrup, ewwww); import some St. Arnolds from Houston.

Oh, and nice build.

GentlemanShark 1 Build 2 points 38 months ago

I like a good Henry Winehart root beer or maybe a mug if nothing else.

StupendousBertha 2 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

Stumbled upon this build and was very surprised when I saw that you are doing someing almost identical to what j am planning to do. I was wondering if the dual 980 Tis could easily power all three screens. Other than that fabulous build!

Just to update this, Far Cry 4 runs better than what I listed; I stupidly didn't run it in full screen. So more in the 60s-70s FPS at those settings.

dixonerfais 1 Build 2 points 20 months ago

+1 for The Witcher

Atron 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

Is one 980ti a strix and the other the possideon?

bohemond1980 submitter 14 Builds 1 point 39 months ago

No, they are bot the STRIX. I would have preferred a MATRIX version, but they weren't out at the time.

Atron 1 Build 1 point 39 months ago

How come they look different?

bohemond1980 submitter 14 Builds 2 points 39 months ago

They don't, I have one picture with my 780Ti MATRIX next to the 980Ti STRIX for comparison.

Atron 1 Build 2 points 39 months ago

Ohhh that makes more sense

Despicable_Human 1 point 35 months ago

Hey I'm working on saving up for a PC now, I don't mind the price but I want to know what you think. If you could check it out and let me know that would be great! - https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Despicable_Human/saved/qDXD4D

bohemond1980 submitter 14 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

I'd get cheaper DDR4 RAM; and personally I'd geo X99 with the 6 core 5820K

Kaden2301 1 point 35 months ago

I actually don't like this build.........

Kaden2301 3 points 35 months ago

PSYCH!

bohemond1980 submitter 14 Builds 1 point 35 months ago

It's pretty awesome for things like X: Rebirth (I know, I know), TW3, Rise of Legends, Attila Total War, Arma 3, etc. Even got Quake running on it. Does not like Rome 2 Total War though; units disappear on the side panels. Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star looks great on them, but man that UI no matter what setting is a PITA.
