Description

This is my first post to PcPartPicker...

I started this build around two months ago when I found a broken NES for $10. There are a lot of guides online for these type of builds, which is good because I'm not very creative. All I am waiting for now is a new low profile gpu from team red or green so I can use this system as my main rig. My future plans include: Touching up the paint here and there (or just sanding it all back down and painting it the original colors) and adding four usb ports where the original controller ports were.

Hope you like the build!

UPDATE: Posted two more pictures: One of the inside and one with the temporary back plate (I am going to make a new one that fits better and is red!)

Wi1dCard2210 1 Build 3 points 30 months ago

hey, that's pretty good. Oh and don't repaint it the original colors, this color scheme sets it apart.

nakaman 4 Builds 3 points 30 months ago

Still hoping for a slim form factor 1060 or 1050

Dizzlepop12 6 Builds 3 points 30 months ago

Stuff like this deserves a feature. Creative, but not necessarily powerful. Really love it! +1

FormulaPC 2 points 30 months ago

This is honestly sick

How are you using the HP PLEX 250W PSU??? Also, can you PLEASE give more pics??

fridloga submitter 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

I am powering it with a Dell PA-9E 240W AC adapter that plugs into the back :)

Dalfashz 2 points 30 months ago

Thanks!! BTW, nice job!

fridloga submitter 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks!

zion_89 3 Builds 2 points 30 months ago

OK!, this is, this is awesome!! It hits all the right spots including nostalgia, the NES that could, please share more pics. If I could +9999 I would.

Do not change the colors, it looks great, like a rare limited edition NES that forgot to give way to new gen consoles, and just got OP in the way :D

A few questions: How is it doing with cooling?, do you OC? FPS? how did you fit the PSU? why an HDD of 256gb? just get a 1Tb or a 512 SSD for space.

fridloga submitter 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks! The cooling is good, I haven't OCed yet, I get 45 fps in ARK on Medium at 1080p/ 60fps in Skyrim on high/ 60 fps Fallout 4 on Low to Medium, I updated a pic of the PSU (it BARELY fits), and i'm stuck with the HDD until my next paycheck, but that SSD is definitely my next upgrade.

Well most of the settings are medium, but I put all the shadows on low and it seems to boost fps quite a bit and it is easier to see in the dark :)

Supa_Hot_Fire 2 points 30 months ago

It's a cool build, but how loud does it get?

fridloga submitter 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Not very loud at all. I can hear a silent blowing when it is about 3 feet from my face.

Zman123 2 Builds 2 points 30 months ago

hi, is your boot drive the ssd, i can't install windows 8 or 10 it freezes and crashes everytime. I am using same mobo but my boot drive is Samsung 850 evo m.2, do you have special config in bios? thanks!

fridloga submitter 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Yes my SSD is the boot drive, but all I did was load Windows 10 installer on an old USB drive and installed it. I didn't change any settings in the bios or have any special config. Sorry

ankousmachine 2 Builds 2 points 30 months ago

ajpinton 11 Builds 2 points 30 months ago

This is amazing. I was about to say I would have gone with an A10-7890k until I saw you some how crammed a GPU in there. I'm not even going to ask how, really good job mate. I would give +5 if I could.

How did you get the power button working though thats my only hand up lol

fridloga submitter 2 Builds 1 point 28 months ago

Look up "Front Bezel Wire Kit" on Amazon. I used a kit like that for the led lights and the front buttons.

+65,536 points for the name.

Nater650 0 points 24 months ago

Um I'm pretty sure that's not an unlocked processor

Nater650 1 point 24 months ago

Sorry about the harsh comment

Marcolino101 2 points 23 months ago

I don't think he wants to overclock, it's an SFF case. Anything more than the CPU he's got and the NES is melted. And the 240W PSU would blow up.

Nater650 0 points 24 months ago

If you want to overclock, get the i5-6600K
