Description

My second PC. Applying all that I learned from my first build(Fan leds suck, microATX is not a good choice for SLI)

Most of the parts were taken from my last build. This was mostly to move away from MicroATX, which just wasn't cutting it for SLI. Cards were too close together and they blocked all other slots. So new case and ATX motherboard.

Moved from a Corsair 350D to a NZXT S340. The case is great, so simplistic and clean. I wish they would take this same design, up the price a bit and make some small changes. Like making the front panel easier to take off. Feels like you're going to break it every time you remove it.

Runs everything I have thrown at it at 60FPS/1440p so far.

+1 fantastic aesthetics, no doubt one of the best looking builds that I've seen on the site. Thank you for sharing!

BabySealBeater 1 Build 4 points 30 months ago

Love everything about this build, colors, cooler choice/orientation, overall baddassery. The cable sleeving is fantastic, awesome color, did you do it yourself? +1

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 4 points 30 months ago

The cables are actually just extensions from BitFenix. I am probably going to get the full set of sleeved cables from EVGA soon, though. As it will help clean up the back of the case a bit.

Paulo7702 4 points 30 months ago

this build is epic

mlach 4 Builds 3 points 30 months ago

Dam this is gorgeous! +25 if I could, but +1 will have to do!

MaskedMonster21 1 Build 3 points 30 months ago

That is one of the cleanest looking builds I've seen, congrats!

nervozer4 4 Builds 3 points 30 months ago

nice pc, what cpu cooler is that? +1

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Cooler Master Geminii M4. Swapped the fan with a Corsair one

dynasaru 2 points 25 months ago

I noticed you have 4 fans installed. 2 x front, 2 x rear and 1 x on cooler.

Are they all 140mm or 120 mm fans? And how easy was it to replace the stock Cooler Master Geminii M4 fan with the Corsair one?

Nav1tech 4 Builds 3 points 30 months ago

Thats the color I wanted for my s340 but newegg didnt have it instock :( . Really nice build!

blackout1231 1 Build 3 points 30 months ago

Gatdangit that is one sexy muthafawka, good job!

kwwuu 3 points 30 months ago

I love it !! super clean . planned on building something really similar. Just gotta get the cash.

Biorph 3 points 30 months ago

This looks SO nice. That last picture. How you turn your computer sideways. Thats exactly how I want mine when I get to build one. Mind if I use this sort of as a reference build, as far as color schemes go?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 2 points 30 months ago

Yeah, man. Go for it!

Biorph 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks man! :D

djhart25 1 Build 2 points 30 months ago

Awesome build. Props on the copy of Hitch 22, RIP.

djhart25 1 Build 2 points 30 months ago

And Arguably right next to it! serious props, I'm a huge Hitchens fan myself.

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

He was the best.

TheMightyBacon 1 Build 2 points 29 months ago

That is just...WOW! Super sexy looking PC. Nice job!

kgn123 2 points 27 months ago

Beaut.

I just picked up this case and I get to build in it soon! So excited!

Good work, love the sleeved extensions and the corsair fans.

PCPickerN00B 1 point 30 months ago

Beautiful +1!

drekavac6 1 point 30 months ago

nice looking build. What are those other two sticks of memory?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

They are just slot covers that come with the tuf armor.

JoeyOnline 1 point 30 months ago

Hey there, Monolith!

Outstanding build you have there and very clean!

Just a quick question, what is the name of the keyboard and mouse mat you are using?

Many thanks, Joseph

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Mouse is Logitech G502

Keyboard is CM Storm QuickFire TK. Want to get a Corsair K70 RGB, but can't find one with blue of brown switches.

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Just saw that you said mouse mat, not mouse. The mat is the Corsair MM200 Extended

AlexisGarcon 1 point 30 months ago

Wooo prettyyyy :) What is the cooler? I get that you changed the fan and kept the radiator?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Cooler Master Geminii M4

AlexisGarcon 1 point 30 months ago

Hey! That's the one I plan to use! Why did you swap it? Too loud or just not stylish enough?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 2 points 30 months ago

It was just for style purposes. Wanted the blue fan.

ArrKayCee 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Please get another SLI bridge, the build looks amazing but that just takes a tiny bit away, still a +5 from me.

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

I am looking for a new one. Sadly there don't seem to be that many great looking ones. Will probably just get a Republic of Gamers one.

ArrKayCee 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

the EVGA one? Or just a plain black one.

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Probably just a plain black one until they release one without a red LED

blakslee720 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

this is sexy as hell

bigg_critter 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

quite nifty!

MAXXHEW 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Nice looking PC there. I have a few questions though - if/when DX12 enables SLI/CrossFire to combine the VRAM of both GPU's... how many GB of VRAM will this PC be able to use effectively? And for a GPU total of $810.00... would it have been a good idea to just get one of those cards that have 8GB VRAM? Also... is that kinda GPU horsepower needed to operate a single monitor at that resolution/refresh rate? Sorry if I'm asking such noob questions... I'm kinda new to pc building, I don't know much about Intel or NVidia, all I know is that it's good stuff and you get what you pay for.

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

If DX12 makes that possible then I guess it would have 8GB, but 1GB of that would be at a different speed. Not that informed on it, though.

970s in SLI is better than almost any single card that is currently out. At least according to every benchmark I have seen. Benchmarks show them holding their own against the TitanX for a lot less.

Yes, I would say to run new games at 1440/60 you would need that much GPU power.

Physicx101 1 point 30 months ago

This is slick looking mate, gonna use it as an inspiration +1 for having the same keyboard! :D

fragment 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Gorgeous build! it's so clean. Love the cabling too. +1!

b1aze 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

Those cards are SO DAMN LONG!

Nice one man. I am currently in a 350D and was considering getting myself in a position to SLI at some point in the future but I really cant see how I can fit 2x 970s comfortably in there without baking the hell out of them. I will likely go a similar route as you and just upgrade to a nice MoBo and ATX-Mid when the time comes.

I, however, will likely not spend $240 on said MoBo... I was thinking more one of the MSI-Gaming editions for like $130 :P

Edit: Dont you think a 750W is a tad light for SLI G1s? I realize you arent overclocking your CPU but those GPUs do draw more power than the 175W they are rated each (close to 225 IIRC).

Falcons27 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

What CPU cooler do you have?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Cooler Master Geminii M4, but switched the fan with a Corsair 120mm

Falcons27 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks it looks awesome!

desucca 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

making me second guess my recent build already.. nice work man, it's like frigging art inside that case :)

IBeRamen 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

What LED lights are you using? Nice build by the way. +1

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago
IBeRamen 3 Builds 2 points 30 months ago

Thanks!

whitelightsaber 1 point 30 months ago

How did you work the LED lighting in the case? I like how the glow is overall in the case and not just from fans. +1 as this build looks amazing.

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago
iAmRAFA23 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

That Build looks awesome! I love how clean everything looks. Great Job!

getdeleted247 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

What is the model number or name of that black desk your using. Im having issues finding a good priced black or espresso desk.

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

It's the LINNMON/ADILS table from Ikea. Seems to be a popular choice for computer desk.

DireDrugs 1 point 30 months ago

i'm planning to buy fan leds, why do they suck?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Just not very bright.

huuby 1 point 30 months ago

Why aren't you using dual channel for your ram? Like color match the slots and in your bios it says like:

Slot 1 A Slot 2 A Slot 3 B Slot 4 B

huuby 1 point 30 months ago

i now see apologies

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Because the ram was from first build when I was on a budget. Going to upgrade to 16GB soon anyways. (8x2)

huuby 1 point 30 months ago

Sounds good. I just didn't want you to be at a disadvantage or anything.

HTTPRO 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Love this build! Simplistic yet so artistic! Anyone else think that this case should also come in black with the white accents?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

The blue bar in the back is removable. Could easily be painted any color you want .

[comment deleted]
beardofsocrates 1 point 30 months ago

I hope you don't mind if I take some inspiration from this build. The aesthetics are well thought over, and the components will handle everything, to the max for, years.

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Don't mind at all.

mouzzampk2014 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Hiya! I just bought this cooler and I want to change the stock fan with Corsair SP120 LED. If you don't mind please explain how you change the fan and how you connect the fan with heatsink?

Please update your comment. Thanks

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

The fan just clips to the heatsink. Just unclip the stock fan and use the clips to attach the Corsair fan. It's very easy.

mouzzampk2014 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks a lot. And one more thing please. Is this cooler compatible if I installed all 4 Rams? I seen the YouTube video and the guy mentioned about some pipe issue. And when I checked other builds here with same cooler, I can see it would be okay to install the 4 rams with this cooler. Please...

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

It depends on the how tall the ram is. If it's the type with a large heat sink on it, it may be an issue. The kind I have (Kingston HyperX Fury) can fit in all 4 slots. The CPU heatsink can be mounted in any direction. So make sure you have it in a way that the ram can still fit.

mouzzampk2014 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks!

TenchiZero 1 point 30 months ago

Damn, that's such a nice build. This is what its all about. Great stuff, man.

BlinkSh0t 1 point 30 months ago

how does one get he blue power cables from the PSU?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 3 points 30 months ago

The ones I have are extensions from BitFenix. Some manufacturers also sell colored cables for some of their PSUs. I know Corsair and EVGA do

BlinkSh0t 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks! Gonna look into it.

BlinkSh0t 1 point 29 months ago

Ok so question then. Are the cables cross compatible? As in corsair cables work with evga for example? Looking them up and the bundles are kinda steep.

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 29 months ago

That I don't know. I know the BitFenix extensions will work with any PSU. though.

mahiyar 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

It seems the case does not have a reset switch. Does the main power button function as reset button?

mrlmaokun 1 point 24 months ago

OMG what is your keyboard I love it !

DatzEvo 1 point 23 months ago

Nice Build! I just bought the same case over the weekend but my build is not completely finished yet. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of LED fan are those?? I need them on my case lol

issac.mantle 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

das purddeh

Crunchyburrito22 1 point 22 months ago

What case fans and what fan is that on the cpu?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 21 months ago

All the fans including one on CPU are the Corsair Air Series.

the_animator 1 point 21 months ago

One word... Gorgeous

superjon21 1 point 16 months ago

What kind of keyboard is that?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

CM Storm QuickFire TK

1xrainbowdashx4 1 point 16 months ago

Where exactly do you install the hard drives?

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

There is an HDD rack for 2 HDDs underneath at the front of the case.

JrJohnson65 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

What cables are those? Are they custom? The cables going into the gtx 970s btw.

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

BitFenix extensions.

gabr13laa12 1 point 15 months ago

How did you get those blue cables ? Ive been trying to make a similar build

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 2 points 15 months ago

BitFenix cable extensions. Got them on NewEgg and Amazon.

TaufiqTX 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

Goals!

chemicalwill 1 point 7 months ago

What corsair fans are those? They look sick as hell!!!

LegendOfLink 1 point 6 months ago

What LED strip did you use?

ElectricGamerX7 1 point 2 months ago

Nice color choice man and the cables are awesome. Just a quick question what is that keybord? (Its looks sick!)

MinotaurGrumps -1 points 30 months ago

You called it Monolith, but it still doesn't have enough vram to play Shadow of Mordor with ultra textures. (uses around 5.)

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Well then, it's a good thing that the Ultra texture pack for SoM is hard to recognize even when side by side with High textures. Also, you only need that vram to run the Ultra pack at 4K. Works fine with 970s and 1440p.

vekspec 5 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

thinking the same thing. it's got a Corsair fan on it haha.

only one I can find that allows for a 120mm fan is the CM Gemini M4

Bmvc1 submitter 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

It is the Gemini M4 with a Corsair fan

I'm using a single G1 and I couldn't be happier. The OC on it is quite good, but I only set it up for testing purposes. Won't be disappointed.

Plus that backplate man!

I think the Gigabyte 970/980 is widely considered the best version of those cards.
