Description

Hi there,

I built this computer as i was getting into the gaming scene a few years back on my old PC

This build has took me over a year and half to do and get it to how it is now.

Most of the parts i've had laying around in my room as spares

Most annoying thing about this build was the CPU cooler not sitting correctly but i made it fit inside the top of the case chassis.

Mind you this is my first time ever owning a K series CPU chip, and i have no overclocking experience but i managed to get my cpu a stable 4.6ghz at 1.285V, and i've ran prime 95 for 10 hours without errors.

I'm open to salty comments and feedback on what i can improve with this build.

Future Plans;

Custom Waterloop in the Thermaltake A31 Chaser

Second 290x (Not sure if its worth it?)

SSD for OS

Custom Orange Paint for front grill mesh

UPDATED 26/12/2015

bought a alphacool double slot res/pump kit with 240mm - 45w rad

Somewhat started custom waterloop, needs more tinkering and tube routing better, but since that its dropped from 65c while gaming to 45-55c

bought new corsair strafe cherry red mx keyboard and corsair m65 rbg mouse

graphics card will be getting added to watercooling loop hopefully in the next week when i get my delivery from alphacool

UPDATED 29/8/16

Jesus christ, haven't updated in a while but since the last update awhile back nothing really changed Added a 120MM/45MM radiator to front of case, added 120MM/30 or 35MM to bottom of case, whole PC is fully water cooled, need to fix tubing up, make it solid tubing rather then soft tubing - currently idles at 28c and underload/while gaming hits roughly 45-59c depends how CPU heavy the game is

GPU idles around 28c - 29c underload gets about 40-55C

Currently using Mayhems Pastel Raspberry Purple coolant, seems to be a good batch it, seen mixed results about the Pastel based coolant, might swap out PC case sooner or later, just depends on cash flow at the moment, but anyways enjoy the new high quality photos

Part Reviews

Video Card

Personally this is a good overclockable card, doesn't lag or loose frames in most games, over clocks like a champion, pretty smooth and easy.

Only downside is AMD drivers kinda suck, but other then that, this is a perfect card for decent performance

Case Fan

I was always skeptical of the corsair fans cause of the high price, but my god, these are totally worth the price.

Installed 4 of these in my case and running off the NZXT Sentry 3 Fan Controller set at 1650-1750RPM and my god, these are silent as.

The air flow has increased in my case and the graphics card temps have dropped a fair few C while bench-marking.

Would totally recommend these fans.

Fan Controller

Would've preferred a white face version of this, but my god, this thing is amazing, PC is dead silent, only downfall is the "power" button is hard to touch to turn the LCD face off.

But other then that, easy to install, easy to manage the fans on, just a perfect little controller :)

Monitor

2 ms response time, and supports 60hz is perfect for a first decent size monitor and if you cant afford a 144hz, this is for you.

I paid 279$ at MSY, and i think it was worth it.

The pics! Grainy quality, but great shots! (Especially of the keyboard :P) Why on earth did you get 1333Mhz RAM?

spacekitteninvasion submitter 1 Build 2 points 25 months ago

Haha cheers, I blame the iPhone 5 picture quality, I'll have to take better photos, this a long story, bought a motherboard/ram/cpu bundle off ebay about two years ago cause it was the cheapest option at the time for me, which I regret now but and started slowly getting the pc upgrading bug, but next week I'll be upgrading the ram/changing out fans and adding a thermal take fan controller to get it a fully silent build.

He needs more light in his room to get better pics with the iPhone.

spacekitteninvasion submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 months ago

Haha thanks for the tip, I rarely use my iPhone 5 camera for anything but, I'll try and take a few better photos later on

Wow! Nice setup :)

spacekitteninvasion submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 months ago

Thanks! :) - had a peek at your setup, i kinda fell in love with your pc case haha!

Awesome build! But Isn't that power supply a little overkill?

spacekitteninvasion submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 months ago

Thanks :)

At first i thought it was overkill but i got it on a EOYF sale for 150$ rather 250$ plus going to add another 290x i would've needed to bought a bigger power supply anyways, so i thought stuff it, its a cheap deal here in AUS were everything is overpriced to the max

Bor3alis 2 points 25 months ago

Oh, that's great. And smart

Spiklwi 1 point 25 months ago

nice build :) how is the CM bundle ?

spacekitteninvasion submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 months ago

I'm actually surprised at the price and how well it is, mouse is like smooth as butter and easy to grip, keyboard is nice and easy and not heavy and very responsive and the LED light function is handy as, i used to have a thermaltake keyboard and this CM storm one beats that

Spiklwi 1 point 25 months ago

hmm I see ^ thanks for your information, enjoy it ^

spacekitteninvasion submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 months ago

uploaded a few night time pictures.. hopefully the quality is decent on them

spacekitteninvasion submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 months ago

Update: Swapped out the ram for 16GB 1866mhz Kingston Hyper X white , changed all PC case fans to corsair 120SP high performance fan, added NZXT Sentry 3 fan controller to adjust fan speeds down lower and to around 1650-1750 RPM, its silent and quiet

Next will be second 290x when the prices drop

I've uploaded new pictures, hope the quality is good.

Honestly the cooler is abit awkward and the rad is huge as hell, doesn't really fit in the top half unless you ghetto mod it in this case.

But the temps are usually 28c idle - 33c light use - 55c while gaming, could probably drop it lower with a push/pull setup or swap out the rev.2 fans with different ones (thank lord they changed it from rev.1 where the pumps was connected to the fan motors)

But the Antec Grid software reads it at "34.5" most of the time
