Description

What I looked for is a small and powerful PC. I have planned for this PC for at least half year. At first, I was about to go with i5-6600K. Then, I heard rumours about new processor from AMD are going to be released soon, so I postponed in buying new motherboard, CPU and RAM. I mostly recycled my previous PC's parts, which was running Xeon E3 (Haswell Gen). Also, most of the parts on my PC is second handed, so it's cheaper. And added new stuff such as new fans, fan controller, lightning, and internal USB hub.

I use the machine mainly for gaming and streaming. I have met a few problems with building it, such as cable management and tubing from the AIO. And also the availability of the motherboard in my country which is Malaysia. I had to risk it and I bought it from China. Glad I was not scammed and the thing worked really well.

It worked really well, hitting very good temps, on both the CPU and the GPU. Both maintained under 50C. And it is quiet, I can set the fans to stop when idling.

All and all, I just think that this is one of the craziest ideas I have ever come up with. It's crazy how this small PC is running 6 cores, 12 threads. (Thanks to Ryzen or u will need X99 motherboards.) And also its fully water cooled using 2 AIO watercoolers.

Oh, and also, I had one more extra led strip after the installation of the NZXT Hue+. So, I installed the LED Strip under the chassis and had the LED cable routed through the GPU ventilation holes.

UPDATESSS Bought 2 more monitors, an NZXT Puck and also an SM961 128GB NVMe SSD.

+1 For such a colorful build! Its amazing how much raw power can be shoved into one of these smaller machines now adays. Congrats on finally being able to bring all those plans to life, it certainly feels great when it all works out!

europanoob 1 point 13 months ago

thank you very much! and congratz on your idea to light it up like this :P

timless 3 Builds 2 points 13 months ago

Oh man, a build in the case I'm going to use with AMD Ryzen, only problem being that motherboard (the only Mini ITX AM4 one on the market right now) is always sold out! Anyways still jealous, and great build! (Love the lighting)

vinzorelli 1 Build 2 points 13 months ago

Are you looking at the Biostar miniATX?

timless 3 Builds 2 points 13 months ago

Yes, only places I can find it it's always out of stock

Selicos 1 point 13 months ago

r/sff keeps getting posts when it is back in stock.

Clegie 2 points 12 months ago

if you are able to wait a bit longer a new mini-ITX motherboard was announced the ASRock X370 Gaming ITX/ac which may give you more options/availability.

timless 3 Builds 1 point 12 months ago

Thanks I'll keep an eye out for it!

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

Not just limited stock, the motherboard couldn't be found in my country, I even had to buy it from China lmao. https://world.taobao.com/item/549575067957.htm?spm=a312a.7700714.0.0.rR2iiw#detail

i7-6600k? New Leaks!??!?! +1

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

Thanks for pointing it out. I have edited the post.

AsianPartPicker 2 points 13 months ago

No problem

supertightpants 1 point 13 months ago

I'm about to order the same processor and I was wondering if it comes with a cooling fan and thermal paste, if you could reply that would be great. But nice build!

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

The 1600X does not come with any sort of cooling and thermal paste.

supertightpants 1 point 13 months ago

Ok! Thats great to know, thanks appreciate it.

europanoob 1 point 13 months ago

can you please tell me if those AWESOME led colours come with the pc case? i need to know!

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

thanks dude, they dont come with the case. It's from NZXT.

How's the mobo? Is biostar a reliable brand?

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

The mobo is good and reliable Im yet to meet any problems with it.

jazzymouse 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

Would you be able to let us know if this board has the RGB header for the CPU cooler? Also what is the white thing on the front of your case, I really really want to know, man!

BodiXDDD 1 point 13 months ago

Can the ram be set at 3200mhz w/o any problems?

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

for now, im unable to set the ram at 3200MHz, probably due to these factors: 1.CL clock too high (relatively old ram)(cl16) - ive seen a friend running 3200mhz ram smoothly cuz he has cl14 ram -his previous ram is same model but higher cl 2. Ryzen RAM compability issues

  • the mobo is absolutely fine tho and i can make sure of that
BodiXDDD 1 point 13 months ago

So if I have my ram at cl14 3200mhz it will be set automatically to 3200mhz?

Kadomex 1 point 12 months ago

I see colors, I press like. Always!

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks!

Jw2720 1 point 11 months ago

wow oh wow, this thing is a beaut, while being a best, quick question tho (sorry) - is the m.2 accessible while the mobo is still in the case as would look to put in a 960evo later on. ps, hope my pc looks half as good as this :D

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

yes the m.2 slot is accessible.

ThanosPapathanasiou 1 point 11 months ago

What screwdriver did you use for the m.2 drive?

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

the screw came with the motherboard

MrTentacles 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

What CPU temps are you getting from that cooler?

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

under 50C, overclocked to 4GHz

Fr33Th1nk3r 5 Builds 1 point 10 months ago

Was it hard to OC using the Biostar Mobo? Thinking about doing something similar. I'm bored of my 4770k and my giant c70 case taking my leg room.

powermashon 1 point 3 months ago

NICE

nitrotech 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

+1 for cloudkid on your monitor

Lyrix 0 points 13 months ago

1+! cool build! but i would mount that rad in the front because of temps....

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

There is two rads and I installed one on top and another one at the front. Temps are really good for both CPU and GPU.

Lyrix 1 point 13 months ago

ohhh... okay

drewramos01 0 points 12 months ago

For $110, you could've gotten a 3200MHz 16gb of ram, but 3000MHz 8gb Dominator Platinum ram is overpriced af. If you can afford to get an $840 gpu, then why not just go for the ryzen 7 or the i7 series? Just note that cpu bottlenecks when using a high-end gpu. So if I were you, I'd go for the 7700k or the 1700, or if you want to continue down the Ryzen 5 series, just get the 1600(cheaper and is practically the same thing). You could've also opted for the B350 counterpart of your motherboard as you are not using your gpu in sli.

5yt6tiut7 submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

it's 3200mhz but pcpartpicker doesn't have the option for it so, it's still 2x4gb tho and ram prices are probably higher here, IDK. was opting for 1700 but I really don't need that many cores and I'm really new to CPU OC so I got 1600x instead. I totally agree the 1600 part, but still, like the 1700, I'm really new at OC and that is the reason why I gave up the R7 series. And also the motherboard, I agree what you wrote there but I thought x370 will have some improvements on NVMe and others, which turns out I was wrong.

Thanks man, was planning on custom loop but I figured that it was expensive and tough in a small casing like this. And my AIO cooled my PC really well, so, I cancelled the plan on getting a custom loop.
