Just wanted to make a home workstation and gaming PC. I like to keep things simple and elegant which is why there are RGBs. Just a default red LED on front fan.

Looking to change cabinet to Cooler Master MasterBox 5 soon.

I personally would have put the SSD money towards a better CPU and GPU but it's still a nice build.

I thought about getting a FX 8320 but it was overbudget and over what I needed. It was was costing me as much as a Core i5 3470 while giving less performance then Intel. If I wanted to go for Intel only I would have gone for it.

The GPU is something I am keeping for 2 years atleast. It has cost me a lot here in India. Right now I am playing Crysis 3 at "high" settings at 1600x900 beautifully.

Where? I couldn't find them in local market in India at least. I can't buy GPU from Amazon because MSI, Asus, Gigabyte and Sapphire don't give international warranty.

Yes, but I am not getting international warranty if I buy it from USA. I needed warranty for such an expensive product.

Here in India a 7870 costs $95 more which is why I did not go for it.

Since you have a similar config like mine, can you please let me know of the following for comparison?

  1. CPU temperature.
  2. Is it overclocked? If so then to what speed?
  3. How did you apply the thermal paste? Using a card and spread it equally or just left a rice/pea sized blob on the CPU?

Well I don`t actually have this build lol its a plan in about 1 month. I can give you answers for these question.

  1. With your cooler about about a 4.5 should be in 60C-70C under full load

  2. If overclocked dont push past 4.5 you wont see a increase in performance hence "Empty Overclocking"

  3. Pea is a great way to do it but spreading the paste across the CPU will reduce Temps.

I am not going to open the heatsink now. I don't even know how to install it. The technician did it for me. Next time if I do, I will spread it.

I really like your parts selection. Though I am wondering if you have another fan on the top of the case venting out the CPU cooler airflow facing up? If not may I suggest you orient it towards the back exhaust of your case?

Oh! yes, there is a 120 MM fan connected which acts as an exhaust. I couldn't capture it in this photograph. I will try to take a better picture next time.

Would be better if the color scheme inside wasn't blue when the case is red IMO.

I agree. I am trying to get red cables but they are hard to find here. Let me see what I can do. This cabinet doesn't have a Window so its not like anything is visible.

I live in India. Those cables you showed are for modular Power supply. Mine is regular CX 500v3 so they won't apply. However, I can probably get some red nylon covers and wrap around the cables myself.

About the motherboard, well, They are serving well for now. I will replace them with after market heatsink or try to spray paint them here later.

I'm from india too im planning to buy either a fx-6300 or a fx-8350. This machine is for running xenserver for my cloudstack(Gaming too). Not sure which one to get. The question is how are you able to purchase from amazon? or is it just a link that you posted here. Coz amazon.com is not shipping this item to bangalore and price at amazon.in is higher than flipkart :p

A lot of stuff on Amazon is Global shipping eligible. I order that. Import duty is applied to it but depending on the rate of $ to ?, it is usually less then buying from India.

However, these days it is not true as $ is above ? 63. Let it reach ? 50~55 before buying from Amazon. Or you buy from India only.

GTX 1060 is more optimized for DirectX 11 games. It will perform well after 2 years also but don't expect DirectX 12 level quality etc

I use the SSD for OS only and still there is 33 GB space left so I install the game I am playing at any given time on this. They are usually under 15 GB so it works out.

I plan to change this with a Samsung 840 Evo during Black Friday. Right now I am broke so I skipped SSD upgrade.
