Description

Put this one together with my 10yo son. We overclocked the iGPU to 1575MHz and the RAM to 3333MGz. We ended up leaving the CPU alone. It's not a bad little rig.

Edit: ended up overclocking the CPU to 3.850GHz with core voltage at 1.3850v. I was also able to get the iGPU up to 1620MHz.

Edit 2: we swapped the Ryzen 3 2200G for a Ryzen 5 2400G (which I was able to pick up for $100, so only $10 more than the 2200G we originally had in the system). The CPU is overclocked to 3.95GHz (at 1.416v) and the iGPU is overclocked to 1550MHz.

How does it game? Benchmarks?

It games fine for what my son plays (getting 60 fps with high settings on 1080p on Fortnite). I haven't really benchmarked it, bit I did run Heaven a few times testing the stability of the iGPU overclock. On the medium setting it put up a score of 1000 (avg. fps 40), and on high it scored 851 (avg. fps 33.8). Is this build a world beater? It is not. Does it play the games my son wants to play on high or medium setting? Yes, it does.

very nice build! I built a 2200G with my Son but I did overclock the CPU to 3.9ghz and overclocked the iGPU as well but I'm only running 8gb of RAM and I'm seeing 40FPS on fortnite….im also running the stock cooler though. I know these Ryzens like to run a little warm. Any tips to get fortnite to get 60fps on high 1080p?

I k ow these APUs really like fast ram, so the 16gb of overclocked 3333mhz memory may have something to do with it. How high did you overclock the iGPU? I ended up oc-ing the CPU this week to 3.85GHz (with the voltage at 1.3850v). I couldn't get the CPU over that though. What voltage do you have your 3.9GHz clock at?

How old is your son? Once fortnite eventually dies out, your Apu won't be able to handle other triple A titles higher than 45 fps. You should probably get a 1050 or a 1050 ti if you want to buy a budget gpu, or a radeon rx 450/460. Great build!

Thanks! He's 10 now, and is really only playing Fortnite, Minecraft, Terraria, and some Stranded Deep. Totally agree that we'll eventually need a discreet GPU for playing AAA titles in the future. If we end up getting a GPU, we'll also probably upgrade the processor to a Ryzen 5.

what is the MM fan size?

How’s the case held up and was it worth the price, I’m thinking of getting it.

I think the case has been great. There's plenty of room for cable management and it has nice air flow. The only complaint I would have is that the stock fans are pretty loud. I may end up swapping them out at some point.

It's an APU.....you don't need a card to game with it

Yup, it is an APU, with the iGPU overclocked to 1575MHz (up from the stock 1100MHz). Eventually we'll upgrade (maybe a Ryzen 5 with a GPU).

RAM was free from a friend. Yes, cheap GPU is next on the list for him.

Hey, I have the same RAM and mobo. I don't plan on OCing the RAM. Were you able to get it to run @ 3200 MHz out of the box through XMP settings?

Yes, I was. Make sure you update your BIOS to the newest (11/12/2018, I think). I had to up the voltage a little to 1.38v and was able to tighten the timings to 16-17-17-17-30. I was also able use MSI's Memory TryIt and got it stable at 3333MHz with timings of 17-18-18-18-35 and 1.40v.
