Description

Hand picked the parts for this PC as my main word processing unit during my first year. So far its handled all my documents and spreadsheets excellently, even allowing me to run chrome with multiple tabs open for research! I include the cost of my OS and peripherals as well, incase the total cost seems off. Also, it runs SolidWorks.

Only ran 3DMark FireStorm Demo, but it scored 10587 with no tuning. I'll do more benchmarks if I ever upgrade anything, or if someone asked i suppose.

Seems like you don't use full power...

If you notice any slowdowns, it's probably because your monitor can't render the tabs fast enough. Consider decreasing the resolution of your bar and/or pie graphs, or, alternatively, upgrading your monitor cables.

Why not a 970? I'm pretty sure those are cheaper, newer, and they are more powerful. Please correct if I'm wrong.

Its actually quite intensive the animated bar graphs. they have to be exact and have to be updated fast.

Don't do much word processing or anything, but web browsing has gotten more demanding, 4 tabs in opera take up about 400,000 - 500,000 kb of memory. A decade ago, a web browser would take up about 80,000 - 90,000 kb of RAM.
