Description

This is my first PC build. I am pretty happy with it and after completing the build, I texted pics to some console peasants. It turns out that I suck at cable management and one of the side panels is ever so slightly warping as it pushes against the mass of cables I have behind it. Also, my PC's fans are extremely loud. Other than that, I would say that this build was a success and a great experience. 11/10 would do another build.

Part Reviews

CPU

Outperforms anything Intel has at this price point. 3DMark says that it's holding back my GPU, but that may just be optimization differences between Intel and AMD for that particular benchmark.

CPU Cooler

Much better than the AMD stock cooler. Not whisper quiet, but keeps the CPU much cooler. Will probably replace the fan.

Memory

Nice short RAM sticks. If I ever have to install a new cooler RAM clearance shouldn't be a problem. I docked a star because it looks rather odd at certain angles with the exposed PCB, but that's a very minor issue.

Storage

Insanely fast boot times. Much faster than my friend's HDD (although his PC is made by Dell, maybe it's a Dell issue. He has had many problems with his PC).

Case

Nice case. Has a nice window and enough drive cages for my needs. It also has nice rounded edges so I don't cut myself. It feels very sturdy and the window seems to be fairly scratch-resistant.

Airflow is great and there are many fan mounts. The included fans are mediocre. The LED fan certainly has a nice look though.

However, the dust filters are not easily removable and replaceable. They are just flimsy sheets of mesh that can be a pain to put back. Also, the cable-management holes are not grommeted and I would like to see more room behind the main compartment so my cables wouldn't push against the side panel. Other than that, it's a great case.

I would call it a high mid range build really. :P I feel ya on that case, I got a spec 01 and I just need like an extera 1/8" to be able to not have the thing flex when I put the back panel on... once I flex it back putting the side panel on (just a tad off) it feels rock solid.

It turns out that I suck at cable management and one of the side panels is ever so slightly warping as it pushes against the mass of cables I have behind it.

Is this why we only see one photo for now? :(

I like the parts, but I just wish there were more photos but if this halts it due to the problem with cables then I understand. I'd say try re-organizing the cables someday when ready to do it again or when it's convenient when you have more parts to install or when upgrading in the future.

That and trying to get a good angle with the side window. I guess I can do some more without it.
