Description

Hello all,

Decided to build a pc for gaming and multimedia getting tired from using my razer blade at that time I was eying on GTX 980 TI and after a couple of weeks GTX 1080 got announced so I am currently waiting for it its sold out everywhere! My color scheme is grey/black/silver same color theme of the GTX 1080 founders edition.

I want to thank Chillsabre and FortySixAndTwo for giving their suggestions and advice I am very happy with the part I chose.

Now I don't know what brand to go for GTX 1080 lol I hope someone make an OC edition but in a founders edition shell.

Still deciding what monitor to get so suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for looking!

Part Reviews

CPU

Awesome CPU what else can I say?

CPU Cooler

X61 was my first choice but ireally like the build quality of corsair loving that sexy sleeved tubing.

Video Card

this GPU is the reason behind my color scheme I love how sexy it looks and the quality of the materials is top notch and premium feel however If you want more performance and better cooling please buy the aftermarket version of the GTX 1080 like the EVGA FTW or Classy, Asus ROG strix or a Zotac amp gigabyte and msi have some good custom 1080 too so check them out.

Case

PRICEY CASE!! but for me its all worth it all aluminum chassis!! fun to build with.

...and it always looks so damn bada$$!

aero29 submitter 1 Build 2 points 34 months ago

yessss sir!

TotalInsanity4 2 points 34 months ago

If your color scheme is black/grey/white you should consider the EVGA GTX 1080 SC

aero29 submitter 1 Build 2 points 34 months ago

NICE! looking at MSI's too just because they have aero logo on it LOL but that EVGA is super! thanks man!

FACUNDO 13 Builds 2 points 34 months ago

You should go with the EVGA GTX 1080!

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

which one for the founders edition or their custom one?

FACUNDO 13 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

Custom. Its design is very sober and beautiful! It will fit great in your PC

Baustinmcmanus 1 Build 2 points 34 months ago

Great build. However, I don't suggest getting a SC edition of the founder's edition. The standard founder's edition alone with no oc has some thermal throttling issues. Only way to fix it is to run fans at 100% all the time. So I doubt you want a SC edition which puts out more heat. Just a forewarning.

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

Thanks for the heads up. Any suggestions on getting the 1080

Baustinmcmanus 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

I would wait for a third party company to make the card with a better cooler design. That will definitely help with temperatures. Or you could always get the hybrid when it is released or buy the cheapest 1080 you can and put a liquid cooler on yourself using a Corsair bracket. That's what I did with my 980 reference card.

The aftermarket Asus Strix or EVGA's SC/FTW will match your rig nicely. I lean more towards the Strix because it looks more stealth and you can make it have a blue underglow to match the Arc Reactor.

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

Kinda leaning towards strix too to match the mobo... but i really like the look of the reference 1080 :( ohhh mannn XD why is it always hard to decide lol

bruhle 1 Build 2 points 34 months ago

You sir, have good taste! Love the motherboard and case combo!

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

Thank you sir.

SwagMaster02 2 points 33 months ago

Whoa! This EVOLVed fast Nice build!

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

Thank you sir :)

SquareOreo 1 point 34 months ago

1080 just came out today =D

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

yeah I was unlucky bro after checking out is says item out of stock T_T its in my cart already whyyyy!!!

SquareOreo 1 point 34 months ago

That's got to have to suck... lol

They should be in stock by like next week or so

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

I hope so lol my last GPU was a 9800GT so this is a Light year jump for me XD

Flame8989 1 point 34 months ago

Hey are there any budget alternatives to the Asus motherboard and still get the same performance?

Flame8989 2 points 34 months ago

Thanks!

SwagMaster02 1 point 34 months ago

Even if it's unfinished, you still get a +1 from me Add more pics. Dont get the 1080, wait for AMD's response, nvidia will get mad when they find out amd destroyed them and will release a better gpu for cheaper. If you want a 1080, buy it from EVGA / Gigabyte / Zotac Evga is #1, their customer service is more than excellent Gigabyte offers good stuff, same as zotac.

If you cant afford a heater, buy an ASUS, then watch it as it slowly goes on fire and they will refuse to rma it

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

Thank you! I'll take note of that :)

SwagMaster02 1 point 34 months ago

Also, you need a monitor? What will you use it for? Do you need high refresh rates, image quality, resolutions? And... how much you want to spend

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

Leaning towards a 1440p @ 144hz with good image and color quality been researching a lot about asus and acer monitors but I am too scared to pull the trigger due to the QC issues they both have.

SwagMaster02 1 point 34 months ago

I recommend the Benq XL2730Z. Has both 1440p and 144hz, altrough it's a TN, colors can be adjusted easily. Doesn't have G-sync

Matthewtina2015 2 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

Excuse me, what is the difference between the K65 RGB LUX and the normal K65 RGB?

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

I am not entirely sure but i guess the LUX edition is a best buy exclusive name branding.

Matthewtina2015 2 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

Well they had the normal K65 RGB a few days ago. Thanks for the help and please tell me if you find anything

Sephius 1 point 34 months ago

Ladies and Gentleman, I present you: My Dream PC :\

Awesome build, get the EVGA SC, same colour from the FE, but with better cooling and no green light.

PapaGator4 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

aero29 submitter 1 Build 2 points 33 months ago

marcelmunarolo 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

Hi, nice set up! I love the TUF series! Since we both have the same setup, I would like to ask you more about your O.C. settings, because I am still learning it. I have configured at 4.7 GHz at 1.360 V and the system worked very stable. In addition to that, are you using Manual voltage or Adaptive Mode? On windows which power plan do you use (Balanced or Performance), meaning, your CPU runs at maximum 4.6 GHz all the time, or it downgrades when not under load? Thanks in advance! Cheers!

Now I don't know what brand to go for GTX 1080 lol I hope someone make an OC edition but in a founders edition shell.

So get the founder's edition. It is the OC version of the standard card.

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

I see so the founders edition is a little bit OC'd? I thought they ran on stock.

Enrico411 2 points 34 months ago

Fouders edition is just the reference card. Its is the standard card.

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

That's what I thought aftermarket 1080's are %10 faster from what I've read.

chris.3488 1 Build 2 points 34 months ago

You should consider some of these GPUs instead they're all 1080s: http://videocardz.com/60496/custom-geforce-gtx-1080-roundup

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

complete list!!!! SWEET!! cheers my friend!

madurham84 3 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

Thanks for posting this; I like the MSI 1080 aero

mlach 4 Builds 1 point 34 months ago

The founder's is slightly overclocked at a $100 premium but in the same body as the non-founders version.

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

I am now confused some say FE's are all stock some says its OC'd :,(

mlach 4 Builds 2 points 34 months ago

Maybe this will explain. Specifically paragraphs 4-6.

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

Thanks! Pre-ordered evga 1080 FTW hope I made the right choice since it also matches my color scheme but I really love the looks of that reference cooler :/

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

Thanks man! no issues with the mobo worked great flashed the bios right away after 1st boot. also no problems with 3200 you can actually use a profile that can utilize that speed so far all passed on diagnostic testing. yeah man I would love to have that dominator too but I still have to save up for a gpu and monitor XD.

all good with the aio easy to install 0 issues.

yes please! i'll wait for it. good luck on your build thanks for showing me the mark 1 and TI psu :DD they're awesome!

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

Its all good just had to customize the fan curve to obtain a stable performance without thermal throttling with OC +190 gpu and +400 mem clock spd temp stays around 70+ at full load @ 1440p. Canceled my pre order FTW on amazon could not resist so I gave in and bought FE lol but I am happy with it. FTW is a beast so I suggest you wait for it.

aero29 submitter 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

hmm.. that's weird I am actually using AI suite to control my fans it brings down the assist fan speed to 40% my Cpu fan is controlled by corsair link and msi afterburner for my gpu.

haha yeah it was the 1st batch of pre orders XD
