Description

Used for regular gaming and general use. Anything not on the parts list was leftover or taken from other builds. Outfitted with five various hard disks and a DVD drive on the motherboard SATA and two IDE to USB bridges for a sixth legacy hard disk and a CD drive. Keyboard is an Ancer from the early 90s with Alps clone switches and mouse is a Tt esports Talon. Acer monitor is connected to the GTX 960, and an old Dell plugged into the motherboard VGA for video playback whilst gaming. Case fan was supplemented by some industrial fans that used to serve as motor controller fans for FRC robots. Card reader out of an HP was added, as well as two USB hubs and a network switch.

I suppose this could be considered my "first" build - I've never bought a CPU or motherboard outside of those included in a prebuilt or buying someone else's build used, and technically some of the hard drives, optical drives, and the card reader were also taken out of old builds, so not everything is really new.

I will be the first to admit that the cable management - or lack thereof - is atrocious.

Yes I agree with you. Some old fashion pulling and tucking wires with some handy-dandy zip-ties + velcro straps. Otherwise, good job for your first "custom" build. You have bought parts and built it. Now it needs some tidiness later on. :)
