Description

I finally bit the bullet and built a PC. It was a lot of fun to do and didn't have any problems.

I use it for gaming in Windows and working in Linux. The monitor is killer for both. When Samsung released this beast I knew I'd succumb to it, and so decided to also build a nice PC to drive it.

The case is a mixed bag for me. I really like how it looks and how high quality the materials and finish are. But the "smart" fan crap I just took out. My case manufacturer doesn't need to know my Facebook account, yeesh. I also didn't realize NZXT's LED system is proprietary so I proceeded to immediately fry them when I plugged them into the MB's RGB header. Oops.

i was a bit preocCUPIED BY THAT MONITOR.

Zveir 9 Builds 7 points 16 months ago

I got a chance to play around with this monitor and my Vega 64 at a LAN I went to, it's such a killer combo. I had to sit a little too close to it, but using a 32:9 monitor is so damn cool.

Especially when it's 144hz and HDR.

BF1 looked outstanding.

Eagle355 1 Build 4 points 16 months ago

Congrats on first H700i build on PCPP! Nice build, and I love the monitor...

TruVueTech 3 Builds 4 points 16 months ago

yeah! never seen that monitor in action. looks stunning with your setup.

FilthyCasuaI 2 Builds 3 points 16 months ago

this is just me nitpicking... you should get some white fans to fit the color scheme, plus i think they will improve cooling and sound over stock fans, and maybe cable combs :) and also dat monitor!! so dope (x_x) awesome build

mattgreer submitter 1 Build 3 points 16 months ago

I have combs on the way. I'll upgrade the fans too at some point. The white bar down the middle makes the 24 pin cable hard to work with, I am still trying to make that cleaner and hoping a comb will help.

nega_duck 3 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

Did you already slide the cable management bar over? It can be shifted to the right a bit.

mattgreer submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

Got the combs and installed them. Still not 100% what I was after, but a huge improvement. I added a 4th pic if you're curious.

FilthyCasuaI 2 Builds 1 point 16 months ago

Just saw it, it looks nice. If your 24pin is squished then i would wrap the cable around the cable management bar. Watch RandomFrankP's build video on YouTube to see what I'm talking about.

blazethegamer28 3 points 15 months ago

Can i get a link to that monitor arm and the stuff your using for it please.

BrimstoneBell 1 Build 2 points 16 months ago

That keyboard was featured in a Linus Tech Tips video.... how much do you like it?

mattgreer submitter 1 Build 3 points 16 months ago

I like it a lot. However it has a crazy learning curve. The first week was misery. Now that I'm used to it I type a little faster, and it's really comfortable.

I_Need_Big_Drink 2 Builds 2 points 16 months ago

I agree, nice case, but the forced 'smart' crap is horrible, always hated NZXT software. Also peep the Lego Technic in the background ;)

Caminon 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

CAM is a buggy mess imo, next build I make will have aura sync and HWMonitor instead.

BlueDanStorm 1 point 16 months ago

It looks astounding. My only doubt concerns the support for games for that resolution. Did you have any problem?

mattgreer submitter 1 Build 2 points 16 months ago

So far I've really only played FPS on it. Most modern games I've tried (Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1, Doom, etc) support the resolution quite well. Older games are hit and miss. Black Mesa and TF2 technically support it but there are some issues and occasional clipping issues at the edges, not too bad though.

pj_sz 2 Builds 1 point 12 months ago

Does DOOM hit 144hz?

darkxm 1 point 16 months ago

How are the new NZXT cases?

FilthyCasuaI 2 Builds 1 point 16 months ago

they're pretty good if you're going to use their new fan hub thingy, only downside is i still need a hue+ if you want to control their RGB Aer fan lights

darkxm 2 points 16 months ago

ok, good to know! I'm going to get an NZXT S340 for this black friday, and I'll probably upgrade to their new lineup next year!

FilthyCasuaI 2 Builds 1 point 16 months ago

good plan, they might release a cheaper version of the H700i without the smart fan hub, but idk how likely that will be.

mattgreer submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

I've not seen one in person, so this is just a guess, but I think the S340 Elite is basically that.

Succubusty 1 point 10 months ago

They did it. They released a non-smart version of the H700i (aptly called the H700) that's about $50.00 cheaper on their store. :)

JantheMan 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

I know I'm like almost a year late haha but, you can control the RGB Aer fan lights using the installed hub. However, going to sacrifice the built-in strips.

CornDawg57 1 point 16 months ago

I have never seen the keyboard like that. How long did that take to get accustomed to?

Abdielord93 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

NIIICEEEE!!!!

Can you give me the info of the support youre using in the border to stand the monitor.

Planning to buy the same monitor

mattgreer submitter 1 Build 2 points 16 months ago

It's a Loctek D7L arm. I already owned the arm, and this monitor is the max it can support. If I was going to get a new arm for this monitor, I'd probably get the D7H, which supports up to 44 lbs (this monitor is 33 lbs).

Abdielord93 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

ohhh thanks for the advice :D

Wolf88 4 Builds 1 point 16 months ago

I like this case, but that big white bar seems quite intrusive. I wish it didn't hang low at the top and was more flush with the side and top of the case.

mattgreer submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

I agree. The case is quite nice but could have used just a little more thought on the design. I did manage to get the 24 pin cable properly behind the bar now (added a 4th pic showing that).

nega_duck 3 Builds 1 point 15 months ago

It can be removed

thedropac 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

Found this one on Instagram . all nice but i dont like the keyboard

riskypablopc 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

I have a vega 64, and the led is red, any ideas on how to fix?

droem 1 point 9 months ago

Scrap of the red led paint. At least you can do with the GTXs.

Chaos1812 1 Build 1 point 15 months ago

What did the white cables come with or in?

droem 1 point 9 months ago

They're third party cables. CableMod maybe.

trvpmack 1 point 12 months ago

May i Ask what Monitor Arm/mount are you using. Also curious about the price range you looked for monitor arms. Apart from that the setup is nice man!

DJ_Grimm 1 point 11 months ago

congratz on the build just wondering where did you get your desk stand for the monitor been looking everywhere and can't find one to hold it. xD

thebluewhale 1 point 4 months ago

Nice anime pic

ecogamer414 1 point 4 months ago

what monitor arm are you using to hold the monitor?

LordByronV 1 point 4 months ago

How are the temps on the reference model blower cooler of the Vega 64? I am looking at getting a similar model with the same case and was wondering how your experience was with it. Thanks!
