Description

UPDATE 10/07/16 The PCIE riser cable that came with the case cause weird bugs. Sometimes the computer wouldn't boot, and then I couldn't play any games without any artifacts and eventual crashes. It would also start buzzing at times!

After reading other similar stories I decided to buy another cable from EZDIY on Amazon, and presto, computer works perfectly again. Just played for an hour with no crashes or artifacts on screen.

The install was a bit tricky since the mounting points don't match up to the bracket, so I screwed in the rear mount of the riser cable to the case and for the front I used a zip-tie to tighten it place, it's holding steady.

It sucked that I had to spend more money to get something that is a big selling point for this case to work as intended..... The case still nice though.

Since my first build with this hardware I have gone through 3 cases, and third times a charm. I'm really happy how things came out. I forgot how much I love the SP120 quiet edition fans, the pc is near silent with all the fans at a fixed 1250rpm set in the corsair link software.

Most of the components are at least a year old, and when I decide to upgrade the gpu and cpu, I plan to do a custom water loop with hard line tubing and white coolant. Till then, this came out better than expected.

Biggest gripe with the case right now is the PCIE ribbon cable. From time to time the pc won't boot unless I disconnect and connect the ribbon again. I was able to game as normal once the PC is on, and was able to get to the same core clock as before with my overclock. I went ahead and ordered a new riser cable on Amazon from EZDIY, and hopefully that fixes the Riser cable bugs I have.

You should try water cooling this case. water cooling in this case looks amazing

pegotico 2 Builds 4 points 30 months ago

By this you mean "custom" as both cpu and GPU are water cooled...

Mason54 25 Builds 2 points 30 months ago

Nah gotta cool that case man, those front IO lights get rather toasty and need their own waterblock

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

yeah, right now I have all in one water coolers for the cpu and for the gpu, and in the future I want to get a set up with water blocks, a pump and reservoir and a big radiator with clear hardline tubing.

tigerblood213 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

yes i do

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

When I update to a new cpu and gpu I definitely plan on doing my first custom water loop with hard line tubing.

One of the reasons I bought this case.

For me, this has to be one of the oddest cases (can you call it a case? everything so so exposed) on the market. That said, you've obviously spent a lot of time and money on this and it looks very cleanly done. I wonder how much of a pain it is to keep clean, however!

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

lol, I know what you mean. 2 days so far so good, but I am planning on cleaning the dust regularly.

Cwooley 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

The best open case build ive ever seen and the only one i really like, good job

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks!

AnyOtherWay 1 point 30 months ago

That build looks pretty cool, and with how that case is setup it looks like cable management would be relatively easy. Very well done, good person on the internet!

Cable management was pretty easy. Thanks for the compliment, fellow internet user and computer enthusiast!

Super cool build in a super cool case :) love those white controllers, and the TUF armor is super sweet

+1, love it all :)

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks, it's tough to choose between the ds4 and the new xbone controller.

Trav_X 1 point 30 months ago

Personally I'd say Xbox :D but I've only use DS4 one or twice

B-E-A-UTIFUL !!!! :) Great job ! I want to also buy the case that you have except for the bigger brother the Thermalake P5... unfortunately they don't have the Snow Edition but they have the Toxic Green Edition which looks wicked ! But I will stick with a black one. My build is going to be a blend of white and black so it will add to the aesthetics ;)
I was wondering one thing... on that P3 case did you have to have like a bracket to mount the radiator ? Did it come equipped or did you have to buy one ?

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks for the kind words!

The case has a bunch of cutouts on it already, and from the rear section I used long screws that came with the h110 cooler to mount it directly to the case. No bracket needed.

D0M1N13 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks for the reply :) Once again, beautiful... love it...I would give this the number one spot ! :)

Mason54 25 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Let the open air cases take over! I'm loving it.

Be careful though, from me experience with the P5, the Riser Cable is a little shotty and mine died after 2 weeks

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

It's already starting to give me issues, computer won't boot till after a few tries, games crash after 10-15 minutes, and I heard a buzzing sound from the cable. I ended up getting the EXDIY riser from Amazon most people have had good luck with, and should get it soon.

Mason54 25 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Yea, that's your best bet. The factory onesettings suck and I emailed thermaltake like 2 weeks ago and have heard nothing yet...

smcgothboy 3 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

I had read up on the ribbons as I wish to make a custom case with the GPU on display and I had read that if you had the older case where they sent the cable folded you were going to get issues, don't know if that's what you got but I'd be happy to hear how your new one gets on as I need something reliable for my project.

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

I remember it being folded up. Just my luck, lol.

Will definitely update tomorrow after work. Fingers crossed.

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Got the new cable in and everything seems to be working properly again. No more game crashing.

dax_olesa 2 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

this is the first not-custom-watercooled build in this case that doesn't look empty or cheap, love the use of a hybrid gpu it really gives it the custom loop flair nice job

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

Thanks, I really wanted to fill out the right side of the case, luckily all my existing components fit perfectly.

montiago 1 Build 1 point 30 months ago

+1 for sea hawk msi gpu :D

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

It's a really great card, and quiet too!

Can't wait till the 1080ti version gets released sometime in the future.

customgtp 24 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

I totally see myself doing a build in this case in the future... I looked at it when I was doing my rebuild. I loved it but was afraid to build it, idk why. Great job. Don't listen to anyone. Keep your closed loop going. I run a H100i and a water cooled 1080 hybrid. Everything is super cool. +1

customgtp 24 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

I can't stop looking at this... Why did I not buy this case....

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

It's very different. I didn't need a case, but I saw it, and I just had to have it, lol.

Waiting on a new riser cable to throwaway the junk one that thermaltake includes. So be aware of that potential extra cost.

Liamtorres213 1 point 29 months ago

I just want to thank you because I basically have the same parts. 6600k,evga hybrid 1080,same cooler Asus deluxe. You helped me see how beautiful it can look. I was very uneasy on moving my system to the case but it just looks awesome. I wanted to also ask you how is it with the cleaning and dust accumulation?

2002whitegt submitter 4 Builds 2 points 29 months ago

Thanks! I was a bit worried on how everything would fit, but I'm happy with the result. I was really worried the right side would look empty, but with the push/pull combo it filled out nicely.

I actually feel like it's a bit cleaner then when I had it in a case. I dust out the fans and radiator about once a month with canned air, cleaned it yesterday and it wasn't really bad at all.

versusforward 1 point 13 months ago

I'm so happy to see that a 240mm and 120mm cooler both fit on the right side. I'm trying to find a case that can accomodate both my modded Titan Xp with an H55 and my 240mm for the CPU, and this looks like it may be a winner. If I decide not to go with a verticle gpu mount are there any issues?
